Blast away boys! We could stand a few less criters. Too many accidents. Poop on PETA!

Judging by the carcasses and splatter marks across 96 they seem to be on the move at night.

As a long-distance commuter I have to urge everyone to keep your eyes peeled for deer, especially at dusk - and don't throw apple cores or food of any kind out your windows!

Kill 'em clean, folks. No wingers!

Dennis, it has been blue bird weather here for a week or so. No rain and severe clear. Highs have been in the mid to high 50's and the lows in the 30's.

Wind has been variable in direction and calm to 20 mph for the last week. There is a lot of standing corn yet and there are still some soy beans in the ground. The trees are totally leaf free and the Oaks have produced an average crop of acorns.

The deer still have a lot to eat in the standing corn fields and if they are near cover and water, they aren't moving much unless they are pushed. Or if you are a buck, you get a whiff of hot doe. Then they turn stupid instantly and do all sorts of goofy maneuvers.

How is Texas? Other than hot.

Deer season...SIGH!

Between rifle and muzzleloader seasons, I'm looking at three to four weeks of 55-60 hour work weeks. All the hunters are gone, so the rest of us have to put in a lot more time. And right in the middle of a store remodeling, no less! AARRRGGHH!!!

I'd take up hunting so I could get a day off, but I'm not a fan of sitting around all day in the cold.

2 points, no pun intended.

1- sunday @ 10:00 i saw three guys in orange with their guns standing on the shoulder of cannonsburg road across from the ski area. they were spaced about 25 yds. apart and i presume they where headed up the embankment to drive deer. what's with that?

2 - our dedicated legislators will meet this Wednesday only and will take the rest of the time off in support of deer season! when a political consultant was asked if this was right, he responded as a consultant should,'it's reality'.

un-freaking believable.

michigan, my michigan; what a bunch of crap. you got the government you deserve!

Congrats! We didn't see too much, my son took a poke at a small basket rack opening morning at 7:20 and my father got a shot at it as it ran across our power line, so I spent the next 3 hours looking for sign of a hit. I only found a couple drops of blood, but it was enough to keep me looking until I thought my legs would just fall off. I decided to come home early and give our property a few days to settle back down.

I love hunting, and always have, but we still have tons of fun even if we dont see any dear at all. Its more about the "experience". I rarely hunt south of the Big Rapids line anyway haha.

I'm not an anti hunter. In fact I hunted deer with a rifle most of my adult life and I would never take a shot at a running animal for two reasons. 1. The chance of a clean kill or even a hit is vastly diminished because most of us just don't or can't practice that type of shot. 2. It's dangerous because you have no clue where your shot is going to end up or who may be in the line of fire. No offense to your father but I would counsel against those kinds of shots. It's just not worth it.

No offense taken. I appreciate your point of view. Running shots are common where we hunt and our success rates are quite high. When deer are driven on our private property it is quite safe. 2 pushers, 1 shooter, radio's, predetermined cleared, kill zones, done the same way every year for 3 generations. In the scenario I mentioned earlier my son had already shot the deer form his box blind while it walked past, we knew where it was bedded and positioned my father (the best shot of the group) on the power line in case we got it up. It worked perfectly with the exception of my dad missing.
