WASHINGTON (AP) It's called the Affordable Care Act, but President Barack Obama's health care law may turn out to be unaffordable for many low-wage workers, including employees at big chain restaurants, retail stores and hotels.
That might seem strange since the law requires medium-sized and large employers to offer "affordable" coverage or face fines...

Some supporters of the law are disappointed. It smacks of today's Catch-22 insurance rules.
"Some people may not gain the benefit of affordable employer coverage," acknowledged Ron Pollack, president of Families USA, a liberal advocacy group leading efforts to get uninsured people signed up for coverage next year.
"It is an imperfection in the new law," Pollack added. "The new law is a big step in the right direction, but it is not perfect, and it will require future improvements."

It's not exactly the picture the administration has painted. The president portrays his health care law as economic relief for struggling workers.

.......

So, we have a solution for poor people that is too expensive for poor people, a promise of coverage for EVERYONE that some won't be insured, and a vow that we'll be able to keep our current physician that we won't be able to keep our physician.

We're already seeing employers cut their part time employees' hours to less than 30 to avoid having to insure them or pay fines. So...now these employees have to go out to the exchanges and purchase their own insurance...or face fines themselves, while earning less income than before. Subsidies, you say? Oh, yes...but here's how that works: you pay for the insurance up front and then you get subsidized in the form of a tax rebate the next year. Not much help for those that don't have the $$ to buy the insurance THIS year.
The policies of progressives always have the opposite effect intended.

And the republican health care plan- Just let them continue to use the emergency room for their care (the highest cost form of health care) and make the tax payers and those who cover their own insurance pay for it with tax dollars and higher premiums! What a plan! Seriously if you don't have any solutions to a problem then maybe you should just STFU about said problem.

Newsflash Jules...the taxpayers will be subsidizing their insurance premiums now rather than covering the cost of their ER visit (when the hospitals aren't writing them off as a tax writeoff). Guess which is going to cost the taxpayers more?

Do you really think for one second that people will stop going to emergency rooms with or without insurance. Listen I have no insurance by choice and if I go to a doctor dentist or whatever I pay for it. I am not rich or anything like that. You have been SCAMMED!! into thinking that this law that we MUST!!! obey is going to change anything its just going to make it worse and you better believe that some people, innocent people will end up in jail lose whatever job they have and be worse off because of this stupid LAW!!

That's the beginnings of a rebuilding republican party that's starting to listen to it's conservative base - and very shortly it will be clear that they were right in voting to repeal this bill, no matter how many times.

As this thread's link indicates, as well as what Ohio is learning, the concerns and predictions we made in regards to this ridiculously partisan boondoggle bill are coming true, and no matter how many times you morons try to pin this one of republicans, you own Obamacare and will answer for it.

Liberalism ... that's ignorance!!!

You really don't pay attention to anything but what you want to, that much is obvious. The republican party has, from the very beginning, offered common sense solutions and compromise on the issue of revamping our health care system - including traveling insurance policies (allowing customers to shop nation-wide for the best rates, increasing competition, quality service, and lowering costs), tax vouchers for low-income workers (allowing all workers more affordable coverage, something Obamacare evidently can not do), and compromise on preconditions and raising the age of children who can stay on their parent's policy.

Higher premiums?? You obviously haven't pulled your head out of your butt lately. As this terrible law is being implemented, it's becoming more and more obvious that premiums will skyrocket under Obamacare. If you'd read the article I provided you'd recognize that. Also, from the article you didn't read, low wage workers may find they are left out because they can't afford Obamacare and neither can their employer.

You liberals are morons.

Do you have any idea how you're going to pay for your health care?
You posted your comment at 10:00 AM, so it is obvious, that you are not employed.
You dont have any health insurance supplied by an employer.
And, since you dont have any coverage, are you going to pay the $500 per month that "Obama Care" is expected to cost?
Good thing for you, that you have no skin in the game,.......

Attacking, yet again, Sassy? You are real fond of telling people to grow up. Methinks it's past time for you to do some growing up and quit trolling and attacking others because you don't like them.

OK, since you want to bring me into one of your self-absorbed rants, I'm going to try and reign this thread back to the IMPORTANT subject matter than compelled me to take my time to post in the first place.

So, how do you feel about this latest revelation that Obamacare will be unaffordable to the very people Obama and the democrats promised this bill was all about?

It's up to you; either you are interested in discussing relevant current events, or you just come here to stir up trouble:

Or if he is employed, he has no ethical or moral problem with stealing time from his employer to go play on the internet all day long. There's more of those progressive values for ya!
