If one speaks or acts with a cruel mind, misery follows, as the cart follows the horse... If one speaks or acts with a pure mind, happiness follows, as a shadow follows its source. -- the Dhammapada

when you say your still learning, it makes me smile.
I love to look toward my elders, I learn so much from them.
I miss the days that we looked toward our elders for direction, and people did not take it as criticism.
right now, I am thinking about children, and how some mothers get offended when people give them advise even if it is unwarranted.
I came on to find one of your quotes, I needed a good one. a lot you post I hold onto, I really like that you made this thread.
I didn't actually make this thread myself. Someone else who didn't like me posting quotes on other threads started it, so I thank him. LOL

I have googled some of the authors and found some nice things.
Not to nit pick, but it's actually; "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

As the 21st anniversary of my sister's death approaches(July 2), I came to the conclusion that in the first years after her death, all we ever thought about was how horrific it was(killed by a drunk driver). But, my new motto is: "Let's not remember how she died, but how she lived."
This can apply to any lost loved one. I think that's why I don't visit the cemetery very much-it focuses on the death of a loved one, rather than the life.

I am very sorry to hear about your sister.
It is strange that you spoke on that, I wanted taz to give me a good one on family because I was upset that my mom was not here to see my daughters get older.
A good friend of mine made me look at my mothers anniversary death date in a whole new light, she wouldn't allow me to be sad or angry.
she told me to have a celebration dinner and all talk about the good memories, we all sat around the dinner table, eating her favorite foods, and told our stories, laughed through our tears.
it was a a bitter sweet dinner.
I hope you find comfort in your day.
Prayers to you

I like the way the Irish conduct a wake. It's a party to celebrate the life of the deceased rather than dwelling on the death of the person. I think that approach is great, a tribute to the deceased.
