MANISTEE -- Police and Manistee Public School officials say they have determined sexual misconduct took place involving several students in a second-grade classroom at Jefferson Elementary School.

An investigation found at least five boys were involved in the misconduct, and there was no wrongdoing on the part of any adults. Manistee Police Chief Dave Bachman said in a statement the children involved, none of whom now attend the school, were being referred to counseling.

He said investigators, counselors and school officials determined that would best serve the children. A classroom aide brought the allegations the attention of police.

Well, let's see....no wrongdoing on the part of any adults? I wonder where these children learned this behavior? Of course, for us to figure that out, we have to know what the behavior was but we don't as they do not want us to know.
It seems to me that we are expected to protect our children without knowing what we are protecting them from. Apparently, it is not even safe for us to send our children to school anymore. That sounds to me like a good argument in favor of home schooling.

That's fine that no adults were involved in the sexual misconduct, but why were the 2nd graders left UNSUPERVISED for a long enough period of time for "sexual misconduct" to have taked place??????
Wrongdoing on the part of adults? YES! NEGLECT.

The parents of these children should be ashamed of themselves, as should any parent who hasn't taught the basics to their kids before they let them go to school. Yes, even kindergartners. If you think they don't know anything about anything, I guarantee they've already heard a thing or two from little Johnny or Sue. People, TALK to your kids. Basic plumbing isn't embarrassing--it's just anatomy.

That said, they need to find out which one of these boys is being abused or has been exposed to this kind of behavior from someone else. While kids are naturally curious, it sounds like this overstepped some curiosity boundaries.

That's the rub. It may very well have been within the bounds of normal curiousity, but until they tell us what actually happened we will never know, will we? There is too much being left unsaid here. If one of these children learned this behavior, whatever it was, from an adult, this needs to be looked into.

Could have simply learned things from the "Safe Schools" czar...
