(AP)One of the problems with any proposed law that's over 1,000 pages long and constantly changing is that much deviltry can lie in the details. Take the Democrats' proposal to rewrite health care policy, better known as H.R. 3200 or by opponents as "Obamacare." (Here's our CBS News television coverage.)

Section 431(a) of the bill says that the IRS must divulge taxpayer identity information, including the filing status, the modified adjusted gross income, the number of dependents, and "other information as is prescribed by" regulation. That information will be provided to the new Health Choices Commissioner and state health programs and used to determine who qualifies for "affordability credits."

Section 245(b)(2)(A) says the IRS must divulge tax return details -- there's no specified limit on what's available or unavailable -- to the Health Choices Commissioner. The purpose, again, is to verify "affordability credits."

Section 1801(a) says that the Social Security Administration can obtain tax return data on anyone who may be eligible for a "low-income prescription drug subsidy" but has not applied for it.

"Over at the Institute for Policy Innovation (a free-market think tank and presumably no fan of Obamacare), Tom Giovanetti argues that: "How many thousands of federal employees will have access to your records? The privacy of your health records will be only as good as the most nosy, most dishonest and most malcontented federal employee.... So say good-bye to privacy from the federal government. It was fun while it lasted for 233 years."

Thanks for posting the actual sections these "proposals" come from. Otherwise, there are some on here that would call you a liar and a fear monger. Of course, the section about the "Commissioner" being a Presidential appointee is false as well, I guess.

The leftist screamed about privacy over the Patriot Act but they love it when a leftist takes their personal information and redistributes it through out government.

One government agency looking at what I send another government agency is a far cry from having the likes of Bush/Cheney listening to my phone calls, reading my email, checking out my bank statements and making sure that I don't check anything too radical out from the library.

I'm pretty sure no one in the government gave / gives a damn what who you talk to, what and who you email, or about your bank account.

I've asked you this before....with no answer....what civil rights of yours, Pete, did you loose do to the Patriot Act?

I'm still guessing the answer is NONE....

So you're ok with your personal information being divulged to any and all since we know that there are no leaks in DC? You are such a flipping hypocrite....if it was a Republican President suggesting this BS you and the rest of your elitists friends would be screaming and filing lawsuit after lawsuit to stop it. You don't give a fig as long as it is your elitist buddies doing this crap. You seem to think you won't be affected by this garbage. Got news for you Pete, they will throw you under the bus so fast it will make your elitist head spin. Once you serve no purpose for them, you are done. But, you are ok with that???

The devil is in the details, folks, and there are a lot of details in that many pages. Keep digging and publicizing what you find. The media sure isn't doing it.

Oh, I didn't realize that you were suspected of terrorism... You are an idiot if you think that the Fed's gave a rats a$$ about what you did, UNLESS you are calling Iran, Pakistan etc...

And if you did, too dang bad!

Sandy, I agree with everything you wrote.

Where is the ACLU with this? I don't want the Gov't handling ANYTHING that is so personal as my HEALTH.

GR Pete wets his pants when Bush signed the Patriot Act and follows through with it, but has no problem with Dems mandating our personal FINANCE records be shared with whomever!

What a total joke. And CBS broke the story! Imagine that! Must just kill the libs.
