Isn't this really a waste of the states time and money. Especially if she was had a squeeky clean record since her escape. I am not condoning escaping from prison as a good thing, but after this many years of being on the lamb with good behavior isn't this realy a waste of state money?

That's a lot for her husband & kids to deal with. Why couldn't anyone find this lady until 32 years later? and how did they find her now?

I agree...is a drug charge 32 years ago really a reason to put her back in jail if she hasn't had any problems since? |
I agree with both of you. I think it done and over with. Now if it were something more heinous(sp)then I oculd see making her finish her time. But come on her family is going to fall to pieces. |

You do the crime, you do the time (period).

Her name sounds SO familiar! I'm thinking she worked in real estate?? Anyone know?
I agree, she hasn't had any problems since so why not just leave her alone and let her live her life as she has the past 32 years since her conviction. It happened so long ago that I'm sure her husband will just blow it off (might be upset she didn't tell him to begin with) but this is going to just upset her children :( |

Whoa, that's the long arm of the law stretching out for her.....

|
A squeeky clean record is why she stayed free for that much time. If she had been involved in criminal behavior she would have been picked up quicker. Any escapee knows they have to stay away from the law to stay free. Even a traffic stop could land them back in jail. She was convicted and owes the time to the citizens of Michigan. |
|
I agree, to a degree. I think sending her back her to serve out the remainder of her sentence is ludicrous. Yes she should be expected to be punished further, but one must assume from this article that this woman has learned her lesson. Another 4-5 years in prison (with good behavior, etc) is not going to be a positive thing for her OR her kids. |

I think maybe some work camp or something of the likes. But not waste our hard earned tax dollars on something that old. hello there are drug dealers and sex offenders I'd rather see put away.

She needs to serve her original time.... and more.
Not only did she escape from jail, which is an additional crime on top of what she was charged with, she led a life of lies which is going to affect the trust of her husband and the kids. |

That's Michigan for ya..you escape...we find you. Do you honesty think she was going to get away with it, all the lies she told her (ex)husband and the kids. As they say you do the crime, you do the time...even if it's 32 years later

what happened with yesterday's AMBER Alert?

they found him in Tennessee and he is on his way home. He willingly left. the story is at www.woodtv.com . |

and ...."owes the time to the citizens of Michigan", I am sure you would feel this way if this were your sister, daughter, mom, aunt, grandma, or even you yourself at 19-20 years of age RIGHT? and who are we to judge when we weren't there and know all the facts of the case? does anyone remember the 650 gram law of the past? you got life for having that much pot! sorry to say but if she gets lucky only 5 or 6 years, her sentence was 10-20 years, and drug time does flat time no good behavior for that, only murderers and child molesters get out early, and what is it that we are doing to change that??? if she has stayed this clean and led an unblemished life then life time probation shouldn't hurt at all and it would save the states of MI a ton of money that we already can't afford |
|
I agree |

Wonderful. Michigan spends who knows how much money to find this woman, and puts her in jail for 10-20 years for drugs...while the person who kills my son get 3-15 years ?!?!?!
You have no idea how FUCKED UP that is !!!!!!! |

Yet another fine example of how our government wastes tax dollars and tears families apart. The lengths that they'll go through to ruin someone's life. It wasn't like she killed someone or did something extremely dangerous. Her life over the past 32 years speaks that she learned her lesson, so let her go. It won't give murderers and serious offenders any hope of having the same outcome.

Here I thought that back then all you got was a slap on the wrist? For her to be doing that much time 32yrs ago it had to be really bad. I was only 7 back then, but wasnt the law a little more laxed then today? I feel sorry for her family. I really think probation would of been better. I do think its a waste of money to bring her back. I would really like to know how she got busted after all these yrs??

doe's the statute of limitations only apply to crimes against citizens?????????
