Friend of mine filed on Nov 7, eight weeks later he finally got his check! I just don't understand what they expect people to do?! And things are just getting worse.

Have you signed up on the talent bank? Also, when you call Marvin at your allotted time, unless you hear an amount that you will make, you wont get a check

Like many others who have posted, trying to get through on the phone has been close to impossible. More hours spent with auto redial than I care to count. Trying getting through on one of the numbers listed to check on your claim is even worse. three times, I've spent an entire day with either auto redial or on hold, then disconnected because all circuits were busy. Hope this is a better alternative, although they could have expanded the time slots for verification to at least half a day.

This is obviously a well thought out scheme to avoid paying people benefits they are entitled to. After trying for several hours at a time for eight weeks in a row, most people would say F*** it! Sounds like even if you do get through and get approved, no money comes. Again, Thanks, Jenny.

Michigan had a choice between a trial lawyer and a successful international businessman. They voted for the lawyer, you get what you deserve Michigan.

As for you unemployed people, maybe you would be employed if you were not so simple minded. You can't figure out anything no matter how simple they make it for you.

After news 8 story on the unemployment problems here in our state and the state saying they had just put marvin online so people could do there bi weekly certification online insted of trying to get a phone line ive looked for that site with marvin on it and there is no reference to that on the UIA site that I can find, and by the way had anyone herd of this site until news 8 was told about it what is the state trying to keep it a secret???

great idea! it's about time that it went online. i tried to call in at my scheduled time yesterday and couldn't get through until a minute before my hour timeslot was up. by the time "marvin" was finished rambling his long intro and i had to enter my info, i got a message saying that i was calling at the wrong time. nice, huh?? i hope that being able to certify online will help michigan's unemployed have access to their benefits.
Same thing happend to me on monday. MARVIN cut me off because I missed my time because it took me over an hour to get through. I was forced to go down there in person. After 3 1/2 hours I got done what should have only taken me about 8 minutes via phone.

Its amazing how a service like that can treat people when they have no competition. We need them more than they need us, so there really is nothing we can do. We're at their mercy.

Ok wise a@@. put your money where your big mouth is. Here is the link to the website. http://michigan.gov/uia/ Show us where the link is to MARVIN. We all know where it is to file a claim. but show us where it is to certify bi-weekly.

TO ALL OF YOU WHO CAN'T FIND THE LINK TO use marvin via the internet, try this link. UIA Online Services for Unemployed Workers

You have to set up an account. if that link doesnt work, then use this one. Michigan's Unemployment Insurance Agency

Then just click on the link that says.'UIA Online services for unemployed workers.

I need to find this information as well so I thought I would pass it along.

Hope it helps!

Ya know? The more I think about it, I am convinced that the link to "Marvin online" is in a microchip. Yup! Hidden in the Honorable Governor of the Great State of Michigan Granholms facial mole. Food for thought as we wait on hold..........

I can't believe Wood left this out of their story.
You can't? Leaving vital information out of a story seems to be the norm over there at wood-tv.

The article you did on MI unemployment service waas good, but on the tv you mentioned using MARVIN on the internet to check on your claims and to certify by internet. Where is the URL? No where on the MI unemployment web site does it give an internet URL to certify. The only address available is to file a claim. I have been using the internet to file MI unemployment claims for two years.

I do not find a link on the Marvin site that actually takes you to something you can report on rather than use the phone for your bi-weekly check in?????

The link works for the unemployed woker but it will not let you register. I have filed unemployment for the past two years, gotten checks and just this past Christmas I had to file again. Now when I register on the UIA web site for online services for unemployed people, it says my pin is rejected because it doesn't match the one on file.
Go figure since I am still using the same pin for the last two years.

I still cannot believe that after 1 month of trying to get ahold of 'MARVIN' and trying to call the so called 'inquiry' line, each time was a fun filled day of: dial, hearing "all circuits are busy", hang up, then redial. I'm sure you all are familiar with this routine and seeing as I live close to Muskegon, which is closing at a an impressive 10% unemployment rate ( the worst or almost the worst IN THE NATION ), it would seem to me that the most logical solution is to up the employment rate by employing people to work AT THE UNEMPLOYMENT OFFICE! Let's see here, if I owned a business and our phones are flooded, daily, and our server goes down, I think that the word EXPANSION would come to mind. I remember about 2 weeks ago, I tried to call MARVIN on the so called 'make up day' at 8am....I woke up at 7:45am and called, the message said that the office was closed and would open at 8am and to call back then, so at 7:58am and 7:59am I also called and got the same message, then the next moment I called, which was at 8am on the dot, I recieved the message that "Due to high call volumes, we cannot take your call..." That was RIGHT AT 8AM SHARP!!!! Unfreakinbelieveable.... as soon as I can scrounge up enough money I most definatly moving OUT of Michigan.... if a ship was sinking, wouldn't you try to get off?
