great idea! it's about time that it went online. i tried to call in at my scheduled time yesterday and couldn't get through until a minute before my hour timeslot was up. by the time "marvin" was finished rambling his long intro and i had to enter my info, i got a message saying that i was calling at the wrong time. nice, huh?? i hope that being able to certify online will help michigan's unemployed have access to their benefits.

I just hope the website works as the UIA site kept crashing on Monday.

Well gee they finally figured out there is a problem.....now if we could email questions that would be helpful also. It gets very frustrating trying to call a number that no one is ever there just a recording, then Marvin tells you to call the 800 number but it is always busy. Hire some of the unemployed and get the job done. It must have take complaints to the news media to get this done.

“Totally Amazed!”

Nice try. I know of several people who are unemployed and it is IMPOSSIBLE to file a new claim because they can't get through. The web site does not work, and you cannot get through on the phone. There is no place to go in person. Thanks, Jenny. You B*I*T*C*H. Why not hire some unemployed to process unemployment claims?

It's about fricken time! I also tried to claim my benefits on Monday, and wasn't able to do so. So now, hopefully either the phone line or the online site will allow me to do so on my make up day! This is ridiculous!!!

I had the same problem with not being able to get through. I literally called for 10 minutes straight, just hanging up and hitting redial as soon as I heard "we are experiencing high call volume" and about the 20th time I finally was able to get through. That was a week ago Monday and I had not been able to get through to MARVIN so I called the inquiry line and that's how I got through. Hopefully the online service will be much smoother.

You may be able to go to the unemployment office on Plainfield. My brother went up there and did what he needed to do. It was quite a wait but he got it done. Hope this helps.

I tried 2 different times to apply on line on Monday - finally - the 3rd time was the charm at 10pm! I just checked the web site and evidently they have spoken before taking action - it's not updated!! Hope it works when it gets implemented, though.

I have just been to the UIA website per your link and can't find the NEW area you are referencing in your news story. The only things I am seeing are the same references that were there yesterday when I attempted to enroll on line and I'm still not sure if it was successful or not. I couldn't get through on their phone lines either. Did any of you try the link for yourselves or did you just take someone's word for it? Trust me it is the same area's that were there yesterday. Could you check those links for yourself and see when the UIA plans to actually put it on the web site for idiots like me?

Well I just checked your links above and that only works if you are enrolled. Monday the system went all the way through until the "confirmation number" page that was suppose to appear. There wasn't a request for routing numbers or how you wanted your payments or anything after the page saying I had finished my application. There was no proceed button anywhere on the page. So I went back and tried to see if it would work the second time and got a message that I had enrolled. But I still have no confirmation number which the UIA says I must have and of course I couldn't get through to a person to question what happened. Turns out that there are others here in Lake O that have experienced the same problem. So now what? Any ideas? Why do I get the feeling that there won't be a check and the house payment will be late?

I singed up on line a month ago, nothing in the mail. I've been trying to talk to a live person for a month now! I've called at least 50 times and get a recording that always hangs up on me! This should be national news! Iím 100% eligible and now I guess I should expect to get nothing! Some heads up at least would have been nice.
Again.. thanks jenny.

Here's my sob story. Sad but true and scarry. I lost my FT job in May and quit my PT job the same day because I couldn't afford child care while I was working the PT job. I made this decision prior to any knowledge that I would be losing my FT position. I only picked up the PT position to earn extra money to save for a vacation with my daughter. I was able to collect six weeks of benefits and then found a temp job for nine weeks. During this time I was sent a Letter of Restitution Due from the UIA stating because I quit a PT job (That was costing me money rather than making me money) I was required to pay back the entire $2000+ in benfits I had received. As suggested I wrote the UIA to protest this decision stating I only worked the PT job for one month and only earned about $350 during that month. My last week of the temp assignment I received another letter from the UIA stating they have denied my protest and I was still obligated to pay back the benefits I received. I sent in a letter of appeal and requested a hearing with an Administrative Law Judge. The next week I tried to reopen my claim and was told until this issue is resolved and I had reworked a total of $4300+ I would not be able to collect benefits. The ALJ denided my appeal stating the PT employer was not at fault for my leaving and therefore he ruled against me. He also stated the PT employer was my Last Employer. This is wrong! The UIA made a mistake and withdrew money from the wrong employer! The FT position that I held for almost three years was with my LAST EMPLOYER, that is the check I paid my bills and mortgage with NOT the PT employer whom I worked for one month and earned a whopping $350. So my next step is to appeal to the Board of Review in Lansing. I was told it could take three months or longer to receive a ruling from them. I lived without an income for two months and finally found a job as a PT bartender. I have one mortgage payment left in the bank and that's it. I am a single parent with a child trying to survive on basiclly nothing. In order to get assistance to keep my house, I have to let it go into foreclosure first. What is wrong with this picture????? It's a shame that I worked all my life and contributed money into the system but when I really need it, I can't get any help.
