Where is the Walmart people???? I would love to have a Walmart Superstore in the area! We already have several Meijer stores.
WAL-MART STORES decided against it, according to a former commercial real estate matinenance tech he told me that Meijer jumped for it and WMS was looking it over based in information such as crime stats, libility, etc ..

Meijer had problems and hired a Bunch of BodyBuilders for security, Kalmazoo had music drive by playing loud music until they had a law passed and signs up stating no CUISING thru private property.

BTW Meijer will have to hire bi-lingual employees, and signage will be the same.

As to the Superstore Wal-Mart issue was brought on by the Local Zoning boards Grandville and Cascade which voted against WMS to expand into Superstore Status, the only thing the Voters in both communities need to do like WAYLAND, MI did was fire the whole bard revote impartial cannot be bought policticians.

Another Nameless person knows the real scoop will not comment.

and this forum is not the place to discuss such matters.

I KNOW YOU PROBABLY WON'T SEE THIS BUT YOU LIVE IN TEXAS IS THAT CORRECT AND SINCE THERE ARE ONLY MEIJER STORES IN 4 OR 5 NORTHERN STATES ONLY IM GUESSING YOU'VE NEVER BEEN IN A MEIJER STORE AND DON'T KNOW THEY ARE AT LEAST 20% CHEAPER ON MOST FOOD ITEMS THEN ANYONE ELSE ( INCLUDING WALMART ) AND ALSO THERE UNION UNLIKE YOUR GOD WALMART ( YES I SAID GOD !) BECAUSE A UNION WOULD BE THE DEATH OF WALMART ALSO SINCE YOU LIVE TEXAS WHY DO YOU CARE IF MICHIGAN GETS ANOTHER MEIJERS STORE OR NOT SINCE MEIJER WILL NEVER BE IN YOUR STATE JUST ASKING ?

I would much rather have a Meijer over Walmart. I personally wouldn't mind Grand Rapids losing out to Wyoming for once. I'm still upset the Salvation Army still chose GR when Wyoming welcomed them with open arms. Wyoming needs something along our 28th corridor.

A Salvation Army location in Wyoming would be nice, but let's be honest here... it hardly the same kind of traffic generator that store like Meijer's is. The 50 to 100 cars a day that the Salvation Army would have brought in is far less then the 1000's of cars that a Meijer store would bring.

And again, why bring in a busines where our hard earned money goes out of state?(Wal-Mart) You have an interested business that is a Michigan based business, that money stays here at home.(Meijer)
Its been fun

Meijer on 28th and K-zoo will be torn down. This Meijer is the most run down and unattractive Meijer in the state. If the back yard neighbors didn't have such a problem they wouldn't have to travel so far to get to the new Meijer that's coming to a theatre near you. Just when you think you're complaining does some good, it back fires on you.
oops. any empty store in there backyard will probably do great things for there property values.

I was speaking of the Salvation Army Rec Center that is being built in GR even though Wyoming offered the land in Lamar Park and Grand Rapids fought the plan tooth and nail. Everything you say is correct. Keep things local. I also don't see Meijer shutting down every business in the neighborhood by like Walmart normally does. Their strategy undershoot everyone else so when competition is gone they bring prices back up.

You have issues, I like Michigan, it may be tough today, but this is a natural trend. The economy has to be brought down to earth or we would be making lots of money and not be able to buy anything because of inflation. Meijer would be good for Wyoming, we really don't get to choose. If we did I would choose a 28 screen theater.

How many miles do we drive to save a nickle. Alde's and Save A lot are cheaper than Walmart and there is a lot less temptation. Meijer, Walmart I'm not complaining, we have to many empty store fronts.

I like Meijer stores as much as the next person, but come on !!!...I think we've just about hit our limit with how many of their stores that we can sustain in this area.
To be honest with you, I'd MUCH rather see a Walmart go into the old Studio 28 location.
I find it funny that in the 2nd largest city in all of Michigan we only have ~3~ Walmart stores within a 20 mile radius versus the 12 Meijer stores and the 24 Family Fare stores....and only 1 of those 3 Walmarts is a Super-Walmart.
Makes a person wonder if Meijer & Spartan Stores are afraid of a little competition?? They should be.
I've found that I can usually purchase a lot more, for a lot less money, at Walmart. If their superstore up in Comstock Park wasn't so out of the way, I'd do ~all~ my grocery shopping there!
GREAT IDEA

City of Wyoming needs to woo Meijer. The crazy idea of making us pay to put a new road with URBAN style apts and condos and stores in there is CRAZY idea to buy out owners of falling Rogers Plaza.
They already have a crazy developer of all places the DEAD centerpointe mall 'redeveloping' GM on 36th street. seems you could sell Wyoming any old DUMB idea. Meijer would revitalize the area like nothing else would.
