Now, this new concept is being thought over in the state of Florida. Not sure what their hoping to find other than failed test. If there is no job market and no jobs.
I would hope that should something like this happen, they do the same to those that are on welfare.

Welfare first.

Who's paying for it? More taxes on the business?

If we're to spend tax money on this, let's do something that will really seperate the contributors to society from the low-lifes. Random drug testing on anyone with a FICO score below 730.

Why? You can have a score of 400 and not be collecting tax dollars.

Random isn't good enough either. You want a welfare check? Pee in the cup. You want unemployment? Pee in the cup. You want foodstamps? Pee in the cup. You want EIC? Pee in the cup.

Its not that difficult, and isn't an invasion of anyone's privacy.

No reason to test those that have lost their jobs through no fault of there own. This is stupid!

But I STRONGLY agree with Constitutional Mark.

You forgot some...You want a defense contract? Pee in a cup. You want a government R&D grant? Pee in a cup. You want Federal TARP money? Pee in a cup. You want a government construction contract? Pee in a cup.

Boy, I sure don't get folks lumping unemployment benefits from a company you have worked years for and collecting welfare.

I agree completely. Unemployment is not welfare. They should not be tested. People on Welfare should be tested. I receive food stamps. I would have no problem with taking a mandatory drug test.

You're right. Unemployment is a bit much.

But any other federal handouts? Pee in a cup.

You come back dirty, void the check.

I wasn't, if you were referring to me.

I was basically stating that testing unemployed people is stupid but testing those on welfare is a great idea.

Welfare I can understand. Most people on unemployment would rather be working. Benefits as medical are not given with mesc checks, not to mention other benefits. We know starting another job chances are we have to the test anyways. You flunk and your fired. So most are not willing to jeopardize their well being for themselves or thier family.

Truly, (or I am just being an optimist) most folks on welfare would rather be working too. Like in everything else, there are always a few that just make it bad for everyone.

I'd like to think that way Alvin. But then the story I got from a friend yesterday who works at a tax office. Had a woman try to pay her taxes with a bridge card.

When she couldn't use that, she was upset because then she had to go buy something so she could get money back.

Drug testing is a scam and should be done away with.

I do know what you mean. I had a student once that wanted a tax refund from her earnings, ADC at the time. Not exactly operating with a full deck.

I say mandatory drug tests everyone on welfare. If they don't pass they lose their funding.

Random drug testing for unemployment isn't a bad thing either. What? You're too good for it? I punch a timecard every day and I get randomly tested.

And then you cons will complain because you have to pay for it. I think upper management should be drug tested at companies who are laying off workers because they sure are not doing thier jobs!
