Oh good grief. The zoning ordinance had allowed for billboards (although it doesn't NOW) and the township is mad because there were plans to erect a billboard? So, Mr. DeVos was just supposed to bow to the board and deny the representative his right to free enterprise?

The folks on the Ada Township board need to be reminded that Amway was built on the free enterprise system. That just because Amway and the DeVos' have a lot of money doesn't mean that they HAVE to give it to the community. That they could take it anywhere they want, and they almost did once. And that no business should have to bow to the desires and whims of any local government.

This is a classic tale of someone buying a vote. Take a look at the owners of this parcel before the sale, you will see that a windfall for the State rep was a way of being bought for a vote.

Why is Ada Township paying him six times what he paid for the land six months ago???? Did I miss that?

Man, I always liked Kevin Green but this deal smells fishy.

Why am I not surprised that Dick Devos would be involved in someway. Crooked Republicans. Always just chasing after the only God they worship- the almighty dollar.

The "bought" vote makes sense on many levels. It doesn't have to be overt but can be implied. No one makes that kind of money on accident.

classic influence pedaling.think not? ask yourself: would a deal like this be available to anyone you know? would it be offered to green if he was not in a position of power? also he emailed from his private business during session on our time! time for him to go.

Mr Green is a business man just doing business if you don't have all the facts then you need to get some before start jerking your jaws. He is within his rights didn't break the law. So just back off and let this man be.

Could someone explain to me why the township is buying the land from him and paying him such an outrageous amount?

I'm sure each of the parties actions were within the law. But that doesn't take the Stench away from it.

Might be time to say no thanks when Mr. Green's volunteers are handing out green balloons and postit notes at the next parade.

I'd like to know where all this money exactly came from.

One of my cousins purchased a piece of property next to state land and the government offered him just about 5 times as much so that they can have it.

We're in such a budget crisis yet the government is overpaying WAY too much for pieces of property. And we wonder why we can't even balance a state budget?

I think this whole thing is getting blown out of proportion. It is no different than anyone of us buying land to put a business on it, and once we bought the property, the township says we can't have our business on it. I would be mad if I was Mr. Green because there was no ordinance stating that he can't put a billboard on the property. Wouldn't anyone of us be mad if we bought property and someone told us, "NO, you can't run your business on the property after it was purchased. Also, anyone of us would take the buy out for that much. ANYONE WOULD! You would be stupid not to. Why fault the man for being a successful businessman. Look at what he and Devos have done for the communitee. This is ridiculous how uneducated people are. Someone is trying to be successful and all people want to do is knock them for being successful. That's what is wrong, people blaming and complaining about everyone else. Try doing something yourself to better your life instead of complaining about people who are. And the whole Republican bashing. Look who is our Governer, and who is in charge of the state, enough said!!

...and who voted to pay him that much for the property? The township!! Remember, he did not ask for that amount, the township agreed to pay him that amount. Maybe you should take it up with the township for being foolish to agree to pay him this amount. Not his fault! I would take the money if someone offered it. Why not, they are the ones who would not let him put a billboard up. How it that environment unfriendly. If it was a trash dump that would be different. Everyone complains about regulations, how fair is that when someone buys property and they can't use it for what they want. He should not take the money and just sue the township. This whole buyout is to make the township look good and Mr. Green look bad. Its the other way around!

I also like in the news report the one trustee says how could Devos not know. I ask, how could he now! Their was no ordinance about it. Is everyone suppose to ask the township before they buy property to get their approval. WHAT A JOKE!!
