PETA is listed on the government website as a terrorist organization.
they are really just a socialist organization pushing the agenda using the treatment of animals as a stepping stone to ban guns, ban hunting, ban individuality.
only rich stupid movie stars support PETA and why not, they already have enough money to live like kings for the rest of their lives so supporting Socialism is only the next step.
we need to ban these liberal fools!

we don't need a bunch of liberals to tell us how to live.
people who abuse animals should be sent to jail or worse, we dont need no stinking liberals to tell us that

Hey Neecer...I will give credit where credit is due...your Pens gave my Wings a heck of a fight tonight...congrats to them for not giving up. That last "almost" goal about gave me a freaking heart attack. Catch ya next year on the hockey thing...until then...those of us who are Red Wings fans will keep singing, "Hey hey Hockeytown." Bless your heart for being a good sport.
Always am.:)

They put up a good fight though! I knew the Wings just weren't going to have a walk through like so many said they would. Been watching the Pens all season. There is a reason they were in the Cup finals! They are a relatively young team. I don't think this is the last time we will see them in the fight for Sir Stanley's Cup! And congrats Wings!

Hmm, maybe we should start putting down NBA, NFL, NHL & MLB players who are unable to play anymore after pushing themselves and wind up injured.

I'll admit - I DO support SOME of PETA'S ideals - mostly against animal abuse and cruelty - downed cows being abused, slaughtered and served to our school children; however, I am also an avid hunter/fisher and have pets of my own. I believe animals were put on this planet for humans to USE (for food, companionship, labor) but NOT to abuse.

This is how they suck people in, "I support some of their ideals"........they hide their extremism behind all of the 'feel good" stories.
I wonder if a PETA member (or their child) dying of cancer would refuse a new chemo drug if it had been tested on mice? Thta's when I will give them credit for their beliefs, when they back it up with actions in their own life. Until then they are simply radicals who preach outlandish ideas.

PETA WORKS TO DEPRIVE SICK, HUMAN CHILDREN

By Steven Milloy, JunkScience.com

PETA's unreasonableness knows no bounds.

Last week, PETA assailed the March of Dimes for "squandering money on old style animal tests." PETA calls the March of Dimes the "March of Crimes" because the charity funds animal research in its quest to prevent birth defects.

PETA says "Both animals and human babies are the losers, because every dollar spent to harm ... animals is a dollar that could have and should have been used to help people."

But compare this rhetoric to reality.

The March of Dimes 2001 National Ambassador is a six year-old boy who was born four months premature. Because his lungs were severely underdeveloped, he was given surfactant therapy. Surfactant is a substance the body produces to help re-inflate the lungs after each breath. Premature babies often don't produce surfactant in sufficient quantity. Surfactant treatment was developed with March of Dimes' support.

The March of Dimes and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation are not the only biomedical research support organizations against which PETA is waging a boycott.

Believe it or not, PETA is also conspiring to sabotage much needed funding to groups as the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association, Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation. At a time when science may be on the cusp of unparalleled medical breakthroughs, PETA is desperately trying to stifle medical progress.

Sen. Kohl can only say that he's keeping an open mind. "There's a lot of research activity that takes place that I would suppose is of great benefit of people..."

If the Sen. Kohl can only "suppose" there are benefits to animal research, then it appears that animal rights propaganda is succeeding.

I'm not too worried that Hollywood falls for PETA's propaganda. But I am concerned about powerful public officials getting sucked in.

Louisville, Ky.- Following the admission by Eight Belles' trainer that the filly was given a powerful anti-inflammatory drug just hours before her catastrophic breakdown at the end of the Kentucky Derby, PETA's general counsel will hand-deliver a letter to R. David Stengel, the Commonwealth's Attorney for Jefferson County, and hold a press conference tomorrow outside Stengel's office. In the face of continued silence from Kentucky law enforcement, PETA is demanding action regarding the filly's fatal injuries. The group's actions come just two days before the last race of the Triple Crown.

160 Horses Rescued Oh Auction From Slaughter Many Still Had Race Plates On!---

WELLINGTON, FL-- About 45 horses are now resting comfortably at a Wellington farm, and almost 120 more are on their way to South Florida from Ohio, after a horse lover says she purchased them at auction to save them from slaughter.
__________

"Quarterhorses, thoroughbreds, belgians, halflingers, ponies, you name it."
__________
Members of Pure Thoughts, Inc. went to a central Ohio auction last week, hoping to save 25 horses from a slaughterhouse.
But with the help of Wellington resident and horse lover Victoria McCullough, they did that and much more. McCullough forked out $70,000 to buy 161 horses.
**********
"This project was an opportunity where we could go to a slaughter and I knew I could go and buy them all, and I could send the kill buyers home empty," said McCullough.

Pure Thoughts Founder Jennifer Swanson said, "We outbid the kill buyers for every one of these horses, would have been heading to Mexico on the following Monday for slaughter."
**********
As tough as it sounds, they would have been used for human consumption in Europe and Asia. At least a dozen are race horses.

"Many of these horses here, still have their race plates on, which means they (probably raced in the last 7 days) before we purchased them from the kill," said Swanson.

Now the beautiful horses bask in the Florida sun, and relax. They will get checked out by veterinarians, and soon find families to care for them.
**********
"If we all did this together, soon, the kill buyers wouldn't have anything and soon things would change."

It could be a couple of weeks before the horses are able to leave the farm, but they are available for adoption right away. Pure Thoughts is hoping people will take a look at these horses, and hopefully find them new homes.

At least 800 horses die this way every year at U.S. tracks. Were they, like Eight Belles, drugged the day before the race? Eight Belles' trainer, Larry Jones, has admitted injecting the filly with Phenylbutazone—a powerful anti-inflammatory and painkiller drug—just 27 hours before the Kentucky Derby, but so far, law enforcement has refused to investigate to determine if Eight Belles' handlers knowingly jeopardized her safety.

PETA is calling on Kentucky's commonwealth attorney to file criminal charges under the state's cruelty-to-animals statute, which prohibits "cruel or injurious mistreatment" of animals.

PETA's request comes on the heels of the announcement that Congress will hold hearings in June about safety issues and cruelty in the thoroughbred racing industry. Please let Congress know that you care about Eight Belles and all the less famous horses who face death on the track.

What's left to defend in this greedy, brutal & dirty industry? Horse racing is a 'sport', really? The more I learn the sicker it gets!

Two recent stories one more disturbing than the next. How much grief & pain can an "industry" inflict on defenseless creatures without a public backlash & serious outrage!

160 horses, many racehorses, barely escaped slaughter on June 4. Now we learn 16 racehorses euthanized on the racetrack since Eight Belles death JUST May 3rd!

Oh, these owners cared so much they didn't bother to take the horses 'race plate' off their bodies. It proved these horses had been in a race as recent as 7 days before June 4. Meaning they were not seriously injured, but healthy, young, vibrant living creatures!

Yet the 'Sport of Kings'- horse industry sent them to slaughter
like discarded trash.

Reacehorses ready for "kill Buyers" to have their pick of "young flesh" that "meat buyers" prefer. Starting to realize "slaughter" is very profitable & an industry by itself!

Yes, racehorses are treated like royalty, better than humans, isn't that what you 'horse people' say? Is it me or is there no way to rationalize this atrocious treatment of an animal that has given all, it's very life for subhumans involved in a (viscious & nasty breed & dump) cycle!

Gretchen23, I so appreciate your posts and your energy in helping to change the way these guys are treated by the racing industry.-Thanks!!
I am wondering if Big Brown is the one that PETA should be protecting right now.
I do not feel he should be raced on Saturday. Do you or PETA feel the same way? Has any action been taken by PETA to try and stop BB from racing?
I truly have no doubt Eight Belles should not of been racing on May 3rd.
