I wish PETA would just stay out of it. How can a inflammortory drug cause her to break her front ankles, it can't and peta is out of there mind to request action on a drug that a trainer gave to a horse to HELP it not HURT it. I hate peta.

Peta needs to learn what is their business and what isn't. They always have their nose where it doesn't belong. It's high time people start to fight back against them and give them something to do other then point their fingers!

Renee you have a good point. PETA affects us all-meat eaters, medical patients, hunters/fisherman, pet owners, animal enterprises, ect. WE SO OUTNUMBER THESE RADICAL ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVISTS. If only a few of us took two minutes a week to learn or tell someone else we could wipe them off of the face of the planet.

Everyone else ends up the victim of PETA, cowering and trying to defend themself against this army of fanatics. We need to take an offensive position and GO AFTER PETA. PETA should be made the laughingstock of American society.

There is a boatload of information on them that would make most people shake their heads in disbelief.

PETA should mind their own business and stop this insanity. The trainer did nothing wrong and doesn't deserve this kind of ridicule from this group.

This is from the PETA- Cult of Misinformation thread, it has some good information on it.

New to the forum? Please educate yourself about PETA. They hide behind their mantra of "Be Kind To Animals". What they are really about is Total Animal Liberation. Their Holy Grail is that animals have their own rights. To do this they must first deprive the citizens of the most wonderful and free country in the world of this- their property rights over their own animals. To liberate all animals PETA will wage a war against humanity itself.

PETA brags that it will do "Anything It Takes" to bring about Total Animal Liberation. They advocate using misinformation, bullying/harassment, media manipulation, "preaching" to young children, buying up stock in meat/food enterprises, killing thousands of animals rather them having them "enslaved as pets", junk science, ect. Oh yeah, they also fund known animal rights terrorist groups. PETA's cult leader Ingrid Newkirk loathes her own existence, saying "I wish I wasn't here, I wish there was a void where I am". She loathes your existence too, saying "Humans are like a cancer upon the Earth" and "The world would be a better place without people on it." And still this group finds PEOPLE, whom they LOATHE, to join in and spread their message that is destructive to humanity. These are not the kind of people to consult with or be enlisted to "help" with any animal enterprise. These are the people who we should teach our children about and by doing so guarantee freedom of animal ownership for the generations to come.

Educate yourselves and those you care about now (please and thank you!)-

People shouldn't rail about things they know little or nothing about.
Every horse who enters a track is risking its life each time it races. There is so much money on the line that decisions are seldom made in the long-term best interest of the horse.
Whether or not an anti-inflammatory drug "caused" Eight Belles to break down, using such "aids" prior to a race is unsound practice, because pain-killers will mask symptoms that would reveal an impending problem that would cause the horse to fail its soundness exam prior to that race.
Manipulations of all kinds are used throughout the racing industry and thousands of horses are sacrificed annually to the sport. There is a real need for reform in this business, but the public is largely unaware of its dark side, preferring to cheer on the winners, without any consideration beyond the very exciting 2 minutes of the race.
The Horse Racing Industry is no less scandalous than dog-fighting. It's just got better marketing.

julia you are clueless-it is insane that people that know so little about a subject jump in as if they knew so much.

you need to go back to work now or research the subject so we can carry on an intellegent conversation. you are not ready to discuss this subject.

Oh Lordy Lordy, those evil Amish People, making those helpless animals pull their buggies and plows. PETA should just sue everyone one of them for cruelty to animals. And those evil dairy farmers stealing all that mild from the calves, those evil egg farmers stealing the eggs from those poor chickens right from under them. Will this madness ever stop? LMAO!

Trainer admits injecting 8 Belles w/Phenylbutazone 27hrs. Before Race

Criminal Charges Should Be Brought for Pushing Filly Beyond the Breaking Point, Group Says

For Immediate Release:
June 4, 2008

Contact:
Jeff Kerr

Louisville, Ky.- Following the admission by Eight Belles' trainer that the filly was given a powerful anti-inflammatory drug just hours before her catastrophic breakdown at the end of the Kentucky Derby, PETA's general counsel will hand-deliver a letter to R. David Stengel, the Commonwealth's Attorney for Jefferson County, and hold a press conference tomorrow outside Stengel's office. In the face of continued silence from Kentucky law enforcement, PETA is demanding action regarding the filly's fatal injuries. The group's actions come just two days before the last race of the Triple Crown.

Date: Thursday, June 5
Time: 11 a.m.
Place: Commonwealth's Attorney's office, 514 W. Liberty St., Louisville

Eight Belles' trainer, Larry Jones, has admitted injecting the horse with Phenylbutazone--a powerful anti-inflammatory drug--just 27 hours before the Kentucky Derby, but no investigation has been undertaken to determine if Eight Belles' handlers knowingly jeopardized her safety. PETA is also asking Stengel to file criminal charges under Kentucky's cruelty-to-animals statute, which prohibits "cruel or injurious mistreatment" of animals.

"Money ruled the day when Eight Belles was given a performance-enhancing drug to push her beyond her natural limits," says PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk. "The public has woken up to the fact that breakdowns are not 'freak accidents.' They are caused by taking deliberate risks with horses' health and lives. Charges need to be brought in the case of Eight Belles because of the pain and suffering caused by her horrific injuries."

For more information, please visit PETA.org .

PETA's letter to the Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney is available upon request.

Hey Neecer...I will give credit where credit is due...your Pens gave my Wings a heck of a fight tonight...congrats to them for not giving up. That last "almost" goal about gave me a freaking heart attack. Catch ya next year on the hockey thing...until then...those of us who are Red Wings fans will keep singing, "Hey hey Hockeytown." Bless your heart for being a good sport.
