This is terrible, but why do some people blame the BOB for this? If the BOB closed the opening in the stairwell, what would prevent drunk people from hurling themselves through a glass window in a drunken stupor? Or sticking their fingers in an electrical socket and electrocuting themselves?

The BOB should not be held responsible for the idiotic behavior of its guests. And to people who say "what if it was your family member?" I'm sure I'd be very sad but I'd feel the same way as if that family member drove themselves off a bridge - it's not the fault of the bridge owner.

I know, seems strange.
Condolences to the families of those of the people that have fallen.
I just wonder how, and why these things happen.
I thaought that after the 2009 incedent they put nets in the stairways. I was there a couple of months ago, but didnt really look for them.

I hear what you are saying, however, from what I understand from the last 2 that it was the fire escape stairway. I am not sure, but if that is the case, why is this even open to the public for use on a daily basis? This should be for an emergency exit only. The Bob does have some liability issues going on. The first death settled for $400,000. These last 2 will be higher. IMO there is more going on here then what is being said. However, Gilmore is going to have a liability insurance issue if he doesn't take care of the issues. The same blame would happen if the last drink that someone drank was going on at the BOB and someone got into a car drunk and killed someone. That is the risk you take serving alcohol.

I only know of the main stairway. I did not know there was another one.
Our company has it's Christmas party every year on the fourth flour.
And those stairs seem really wide, and safe. But I have been up there, and looked down, and it is a little scarery.
I take the elevator.
My condolences to the family snd freinds of the person that fell from those stairs.

Condolences to the families! Perhaps this can be considered collateral damage for the honor of being "Beer City" USA! When you celebrate the cause of drunkenness there are always those you step over the line and pay the price. Aren't we proud to be Beer City? Perhaps in the future we'll have a shot at drug city or prostitution city! The possibilities are endless.
At least we not known as the City of Churches. That would be over the top.

Shame on the BOB for not bricking in all of its windows, because what if a drunk person decides to hurl themselves through the windows and fall to the street below? Then that would be the BOB's fault, of course.
