Menards - Prepaid and sold out from under

Paid for 7 sections of stockade fencing on Saturday, told I could get them delivered on Sunday (paid for that too). Now I'm told my pre-paid order got sold out from underneath me and no more is available, and might not be indefinitely. In most cases a business will take it on the chin and say "you know what, this was our fault, let us give you an upgrade of available material at no extra charge" but no, that's not the way they do things. Why would I go back to Menards when there is apparently always the chance that what I have bought and paid for may be sold out from under me as I'm waiting for delivery? Courtesy of the fine folks at the Wyoming Michigan location, the delivery coordinator said his GM refused upgrade and that "floor people" have been selling items marked as pre-paid. Was able to call Lowe's and get the same thing in stock and delivery scheduled.

File a complaint with Menard's to get your money back.

Horrible business practice and should be reported to the corporate office. Glad Lowes helped you.

A lot of stores today have a survey on their receipts. If they have one and if you haven't filled it out yet, I would do so reflecting your irritation and anger regarding this whole situation. Then I would go to their website and contact the store through email AND contact corporate office. If no resolution (including a refund of your payment), I would also contact the local news. They always seem to want to go after a business.

(and after a search of the BBB website, they are not BBB accredited, but they do have over 500 complaints against them for the Wyoming branch.)

It stinks that companies do business that way.
I have some friends that had a similar experience with Art Van Furniture.
They purchased, and payed for an entertainment center, and paid for the delivery and everything, But Art Van sold it to someone else after they left the store.
They couldnt get a refund and had to settle for something else.
I hope you can get your money back.
I think that it is best to deal with locally owned companies, rather than these mega stores.
Menards is o-k if you want a frozen pizza, but not much else.
