We are on this list:( Stinky situation. Got our mortgage through Republic Bank here in Holland. Paid an extra 1/4% interest rate w the promise of them keeping mortgage here in town. 6 mos later they sold it to Mozilo & his gang of s--theads! Now we get the letter saying that our info has been compromised. We have done what the letter states but we still have to watch all of our accounts for 24 mos to make sure we do not get scammed. What a crock of garbage. We end up suffering for their negligence. Doesn't seem right to me!

Can't you sue Countrywide for this? Seems like they should be held accountable. They, in turn, can prosecute the employee who did this, but they must have some type of insurance or bond to cover this type of illegal action by an employee of their company. This is ridiculous. Watching your credit for 24 months is not nearly enough for what has happened to clients that have done business with Countrywide. Inexcusable and NOT nearly enough for their clients.

24 months? How about a life long membership? It's not the 75k people fault that their information was not kept confidential. You take that information from people, you are reponsible for it!

That story is over a month old, it happened in California, and it involved more than 2 million loan applicants over a two year period. It is not related to this incident.

This incident apparently happened only within the state of Michigan and allegedly only to 75 thousand people.

Nonetheless, it does go to show that Countrywide needs to take stock of its current security protocols and make improvements.

Let me know how this turns out. It does seem as if more s/b done than is currently being done. I feel really violated here. Bank of America bought this schlock outfit. They should & could own up to their blunder.

I agree w you. 24 lousy months. And now we have the joy & honor of having to monitor this on account of a lapse in their judgment. Our responsibility that they compromised our vital financial info. Doesn't add up! Bank of America bought this shipwreck. They should do the right thing & own up to their responsibilities.

Mozilo is a slug & a weasel. Good luck to Bank of America. And now they are looking @ Lehman Bros. Wow, these guys are gluttons for punishment. Remind me to overlook that stock.
