In light of the recent school shooting in Connecticut, gun control will almost certainly be on Obama's agenda in 2013. My question to all of you is this; do you believe that gun control will prevent tragedies like the one we saw today from taking place? If so, what kind of new gun laws do you favor or would support?

Ban hand guns. All of them. You can protect your home with a rifle or shot gun, hunt too. Hand guns are for killing people. Stiffer sentences for felons who posess guns.

Gun control won't prevent these tragedies. My Dad used to say that you can't legislate morality.

Banning handguns will never happen but thank you for responding. I do agree that stiffer sentences are needed for felons found in possession of ANY firearm.

Will these be unionized positions, and if so, will people have the option to not join?

Though any of these things are tragedies, they are rare really. They shock our senses and we wonder how could anyone do this and the answer is there is no answer. It has nothing to do with guns it has to do with the human condition, which is pretty low at this time. Sounds to me like this person had an unresolved grudge that no one will ever know about, oh there will be speculation and opinion, I can hear it now as it echoes from the minds of the talking heads. Hearing BHO talking yesterday which in my opinion he should have kept his big mouth shut until later, I could see in his eyes he will be announcing his plans soon to disarm us from the only thing that keeps government at bay and our enemies from attacking. Its coming just wait I see a mandate floating in his mind.

Make ownership of nuclear bombs mandatory for every man woman and child in the world.

Only then will we know what freedom really is.

It's the president's job to speak to the country after a tragedy. It's always been and always will be.

Don't worry...... Reagan was applauded when he went in front of the cameras after the Challenger accident, but it is somehow different when the current President does it.

Maybe the only president that should've spoken yesterday was the leader of the NRA.

Seriously Edna, what's the difference?
They're all weapons of destruction aren't they?
What's the difference between 20 kids or 20 million kids when it comes to the right to bear arms?

Problem with your theory is that the shooter in this most recent tragedy also used a bushmaster rifle and all the guns were legally registered to his mother who he killed first with them.

I heard he was found with two handguns near his body and there was a rifle in his car. I don't believe all handguns should be banned but rifles are alot harder to conceal.

And when guns are hard to get your hands on, batshit crazy people will use knives or some other weapon as we've seen in China in recent years. http://www.google.com/url... Shall we ban all items that could possibly be used a weapon, dipshit? How about baseball bats and tire irons? Those have been used to kill people, too and are super easy to get your hands on...don't even need a permit and they're dirt cheap.
A better solution would be to let teachers CCW at school.

Teachers, pilots, bus drivers, waitresses, hell lets just arm everybody, even the kids! Let's force it on everyone! We'll go from 9,000 people murdered a year by guns to 750,000!

Your only answer to gun violence is MORE GUNS!!! In Great Britain---a country that doesn't get a boner everytime the word 'gun' is mentioned---last year there were 58 murders by firearms. 58 vs. 9,000! Do the math, if you can count that high.
