He has been doing it since he took office. No surprise. Gas taxes in Michigan are still one of the highest and he wants to hit the middle class more. While he cut education funding, taxed retire's but gave tax breaks to business to fund that. I didn't vote for him. There is more to this gas tax then has been explained. They don't use it on just roads.

They have NEVER used the gas taxes just on the roads. How much whining and complaining did you do when it was Jennifer Granholm who raised the taxes?? And why are you whining now?? I thought it was everyone's "civic duty" to pay taxes and not complain???? Hypocrite much????

Now you're getting the point. And which is the political party that ALWAYS campaigns on Democrats ALWAYS raise taxes, increase the size of government etc.?
"According to the Mac Center tally, Snyder proposed eight government expansions -- most notably more than $1 billion in higher taxes and fees to fix roads -- and only two limits on government. That puts him in the company of Democratic former Gov. Jim Blanchard.

That's interesting because Snyder was coming off the most impressive right-wing record of any Michigan governor in modern history -- John Engler included."

Oh ya, and his bolstering about getting kids started on education as early as possible to justify his tax increases in the article linked above? Oh how things change. Not really. Just a ghost agenda.
"It started last year with a budget that chopped K-12 and higher education."

But this is "okay" with Republican minions;
"...in spite of the fact that Republican Gov. Rick Snyder has proposed far bigger tax hikes that Jennifer Granholm every dreamed of."

Not surprised you would quote Delmas...the MLive leading Dem shill. She wouldn't agree with anything business OR Republicans ever do, she never has. Is that your byline, SIB? She always resembles your remarks. Again, why the whining about tax increases? I thought it was "patriotic" to pay until you bleed?? You progressives sure are hypocrites.

Over all this time it has become clear you have a real difficulty grasping context.

The context is: Republicans Tea Baggers Conservatives always always ALWAYS go into turrets type fits when Liberals Democrats Progressives say taxes need to be raised; remember how you all went over the cliff when Obama said the Bush TEMPORARY tax cuts needed to be allowed to expire? Calling it a tax increase when any and all rational thinking people view it as what it is. Returning the taxes to where they were before. After all taxes, and especially raising taxes, takes the money you worked so hard for away from you. Yet when Republicans Tea Baggers Conservatives raise taxes you look over at the other side and do the transference thing calling us hypocrites.

And when the Republicans Tea Baggers Conservatives raise taxes, and actual raise them mind you, it's ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS on those who can least afford it. While giving business a $2billion per year tax break. Then bemoaning taxes need to be raised on everyone because of the budget shortfall...CREATED BY THE REDUCTION OF TAXES ON BUSINESS AND THE WEALTHIEST. Oh but those tax reductions will create jobs. It would be nice if the jobs were rebounding as fast as the tax reductions have been.

When was the last time you can remember the Liberals Democrats Progressives campaigning on how the Republicans Tea Baggers Conservatives are always raising taxes and that is BAD for the wealth of the People and the economy? And you can't remember the Republicans Tea Baggers Conservatives campaigning on how all the other side does is take your hard earned money away from you.

Here's a question for you. Why NOT the whining about tax increases from you? It can be reasonably surmised because you believe if it's coming from your side of the political spectrum it must be okay. You scream holler and beller when tax increases are even talked about otherwise.

Oh, and I should add; "And when the Republicans Tea Baggers Conservatives raise taxes, and actual raise them mind you, it's ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS on those who can least afford it. While giving business a $2billion per year tax break."
This is nothing short of political slight of hand. Raising the vehicle registration fees are going to hit every business that their business involves vehicles to conduct their business. Like trucking companies.?

We shall see if there are any that leave the state to lower their costs of "doing business".

Also seeing as we have the highest vehicle weight limits in the country Snyder (apparently) never even considered lower those to take the excess wear off our road system.

As I recall we already have the highest vehicle registration fees in the country. Or at least among the highest.

Just to be clear I live a conservative life am frugal and watch what I spend. This proposal is preposterous Snyder is a nut and should never have been elected its shameful that this is happening when its hard enough for some to buy groceries he wants to raise fees for registration. Its guys like this that make me want to puke. Apparently he thinks we can just afford an extra hundred here and an extra hundred there, out of touch irresponsible jerk.

I agree with that, but then on the other hand there is always the fact that Michigan roads SUCK, and are in poor condition.
They Need to be fixed, so do we fix them, or, let them continue to deteriorate?
I'm on the fence. A little more in taxes for road repairs could save more money in what I might have to spend in car repair.

As I remember it though he wants to throw $75million into the "rainy day fund" right away.

And the problems we have had with roads long precedes Snyder and Grahnholm because we have the highest load limit in the country. Why nobody has moved to be in line with the rest is beyond me.

I believe it's in Germany that when roads are repaired, and even built, the company doing the work is on the hook for repairs for whatever many years they have it because the government knows what technology is there to do the job right. And when it's not, ooops. Guess who pays for the repairs. Not the tax payers.

The libbies won't be happy until we resemble the European economy and tax structure. Everything is free but the tax rates keep all but the elitists broke.

You can go onto the MDOT website and get a look at the contracts with all the breakdowns. It will tell you the warranty. Many of them have a five year warranty. This is only for MDOT projects though. I am not sure about county or city.

Wrong, they fix the roads halfass then fix the same roads halfass the next year. They waste taxpayer money on the same roads year after year. I reject any tax increase on fixing roads until there is accountability in the form of some sort of warranty from the road workers. They are now allowing for semis to haul double trailers again that they ban because of the roads being tore up. They talked about warranties in the past and they need to implement them.

That's fine for total resurfacing projects. Not so much for the roads that look like the airforce uses them for bombing practice and year after year all that's done in the way of 'repairs' are asphalt patches which need to be reapplied repeatedly.

It depends on who owns the road, and what projects are scheduled to be completed each year. I agree much more work needs to be done, however, the State, Local and County governments cannot get it done at one time.

Why don't you take your stupid crap and stick it where the sun don't shine. Your endless drivel stinks. You don't have a clue what you're talking about either.
