The auto industry and it's employees have long been "skewered" by the UAW. Hard for the gov to admit that because she owes her position to the union.

I don't think that they got "skewered". No one was willing to give up enough, particularly the UAW, to make it in the best interest of the tax payers. I say "way to go" to the senators that stood up to the UAW and the big 3.

Granholm's upset about the GOP.

What about her own stupidity and how she's done such a pi-ss poor job of running her own state?

"And in 5 years, you'll be blown away." And people took that as a good thing? Yeah, we've been blown away all right...we've been the leader in the economic meltdown courtesy of her stupidity.

And now the Messiah is looking to her to work her magic on the rest of the nation. God help us all.

And as far as the Big 3 go...they are all business' who make BILLIONS of dollars per year. Just because you chose to pay CEO salaries of tens of millions, plus bonus' and all the other perks. And because you give the UAW thieves so much in return for so little in effort, why is it the taxpayers responsiblity to correct your poor business practices?

And I don't hold you stupid envirnomentalists without responsibility either. You make rediculous demands for assinine reasons that you think really matter. All the while, you cause these companies to spend billions to create technology that doesn't produce the results in the long run and make cars the American drivers don't want to buy.

We have hundreds of years worth of oil supplies right under our own nation and yet we can't touch it because you idiots think grass is more important that our economy.

I'll keep my SUV thanks.

If there was any attempt at skewering, it was on the part of the UAW to make the rest of us fund their economically unsustainable lifestyle. The USA doesn't owe GM employees a living. Bankruptcy is the only way for GM to get out from under egregious wage and benefit contracts that prohibit them from operating in a profitable manner.

And by the way, Governor, these "domestic" companies make products overseas and import plenty of parts, while "foreign" auto companies have domestic factories and buy parts made here. The only reason that Toyota, Honda, and Nissan won't build a plant in Michigan is because of the UAW. They have thriving plants in many US states, including Indiana and Ohio. My vehicle was made on the line in Marysville, Ohio by my cousins - at the local Honda plant. That sure looks like a domestic product to me.

I've very glad our Senators didn't pass the pork filled bailout. Our entire government need to be re-worked not by turning socialist and taking over all of our companies.

Bottom line is no company can pay people for NOT working. Nice of the UAW to offer to "suspend" the jobs bank. Way to go. Screw over the car buying public so they can sit on their butts and collect a paycheck. Welcome to the real world. If I don't produce results at my job, I'm fired plain and simple.

It was not just the Republicans that voted No on the bailout. Harry Reid himself voted no on the bill. As to buying a car or stock, hey Jenny, gonna give me the money since I don't make your salary for only working 3 days????? Didn't think so!

Good Job UAW fans! Your finally getting what your union dollar dues get you.... Out of a Job. Wake UP! You all want everything for nothing. I wish there was a way to hide my money, Because paying out of my tax dollar for a bunch of whiners just pisses me off.

The only thing that should be skewered is Granholm, with a UAW flag stuffed in her mouth over open flame.

Question. A few months ago we hand 700 billion with no strings attached to the mortgage industry without batting an eye. Now they won't give the auto industry 15 billion without trying to run the show in return. I guess we know who is paying off these politicians.

It please's me to no end to see the UAW & thier main man (Gettlesfinger or what ever his name is) take a little heat over thier economy busting contracts! His attitude alone is enough to make the average person hurl! Sadly how ever, they will get what they want and so very much more, as the next administation owes them BIG time for thier support this past election.
Kudos for those elected officails who stood thier ground. They came from both sides of the isle also. Good for them !
Shame on our Governor's attitude ! She needs to find another line of employment and soon!!

Its common knowledge that Detroit elected you and we can see why you are so mad. But, you don't represent all of Michigan in your thinking and never have. Frankly, its Detroit that is a scum to this state but you support it. It may be a sad day for you but it's only Detroit (UAW) who elected you twice. The same goes for Carl Levan and every other democrat elected in this state. Go bankrupt like you belong and stop blaming us taxpayers.

And that is exactly WHY they aren't giving the money no strings attached.

And the money given the banking industry never should have happened either.

As always, its a knee jerk reaction and all done in emotion. Never a good idea.
