Do you have a viable alternative to "The Machine"????

What do you think we should do?
Well...our options are to a) tolerate this level of privacy loss in the name of safety, b) come up with an equally effective but less invasive form of scanning or c) not scan and take our chances that we won't be on the flight that blows up or d) don't fly.

Anyone that thinks a terrorist attack won't happen again is naive.

Yes I do...... Israel hasn't lost a plane to date...... Let's try their system which won't cause all these sexual assaults at our airports.....

And just why have they not lost a plane to date one might ask....
Do their riders complain of loss of freedom?? Or are they happy they can fly feeling safe and secure??

That's the crux of the problem. The last time I flew from GR to DC I had to take my shoes off 3 times and have my carry-on searched as well. Did I care?? Nope, because they were checking others also and I'd rather feel that safety any day.

Sure. Then maybe we can adopt their check point after check point system as well.

They use interrogators to screen passengers...... Trained personnel read body language and ask several key questions to evaluate the traveler. It is not a liberty losing process..... You may want balls out golf but they don't do that out there......

Yep, I'm well aware of their security methods...that's why they have never lost a plane...
It can be a hassle but no one has come up with a better way as of yet that I'm aware of...

In addition...had that form of security been in place 9/11 might never have happened.

See who is behind and profiting from these scanners.

They have stated they are saving images when at first they said they didn't, there are already lawsuits happening due to humiliated passengers, and these scanners really do nothing else for "our safety" except give the people watching a good laugh.

Something to ponder....if children are walking through these scanners, isn't that considered child pornography?

Hey Wiggley!:)

Well, what are the safe alternatives for walking out your door every morning? Or getting in your car? Last year, a friend and myself took the train to Chicago. No security checkpoints, no searches, but LOTS of people. No one was injured, there were a few shady characters on the train, especially at 1am on our way back home, but we arrived safely home and no harm done. Without security checkpoints, searches on anyone or porno scanners.

I'm not saying take away all security measures from the airlines, but this is ridiculous. But, on the other hand, I could have a lot of fun with the invasive pat downs and request a cavity search. But that is my sick sense of humor....

I do not like the idea of giving up certain rights so I feel an artificial sense of being "safer".

Islamic extremism is not limited to these two wars....Pleeze, pay careful attention to all that is going on in England, France, and Sweden, with their muslim immigrants and all the problems that have been introduced....We could be in jeopardy as we treasure our freedom of religion, and it could come back to bite us, in the end......this dilemma is not as distant as a foreign war, that you may only see on the nightly news, or read about in the newspaper.....it is very real and it will be at our doorstep soon........Airport security is a distraction and nothing compared with what is to come.....

Trains don't blow up 2 miles over terra firma. Our passenger train system in the US isn't widely used enough to be a tempting target to terrorists...they want maximum bang for their buck, so to speak.

I absolutely agree. We flew (on Northwest)from Florida to Detroit 2 days after the fruit of the boom bomber. Security was insane; it took us 3 hours to even get to the scanners, let alone through them, but you can bet passengers weren't bitchin' about the extra security measures then. Makes me wonder it doesn't take an attempt once a year or so to keep people grateful that someone is at leat attempting to ensure that they don't wind up spread across the country side like human confetti.

I have some thoughts on this as well...
I'll sleep on it and get with this tomorrow as well.
Interesting point by the way.
