In Ionia a road rage incident turned into a shoot out between two concealed weapon permit holders. They shot and killed one another. But wait, I thought concealed weapon holders were the good guys! Well at least they removed themselves from the gene pool. Ionia's collective IQ just went up a couple points!

So should we draw from this that is is the norm that concealed weapon permit holders will conduct themselves in such a manner or...is this a very very rare incident that in no way represents the vast majority of concealed weapon permit holders?

I think we can draw from this that these 2 people had anger issues. The first gentleman, it was reported this morning, had pulled over to let the 2nd gentleman by who was tailgating him. The 2nd party pulled in behind him and started shooting. The other posters on here would probably have reacted the same way I suspect since they have anger issues as well. It is truly sad these days that people have not figured out how to deal with their anger without killing others.

Good question. I'm sure it's not the norm but the more people that end up with a CCW the more incidents like this we'll see. I recommend a more rigid program that is comparable to what police officers have to go through. Any incidents of physical assaults, even if plea bargained out of--or a reduction of penalty, should be a deciding factor. Of course the NRA and the gun lobby will never let that happen.

What makes you think I am angry little man? Because I call you out for your ignorance? That's not angry pipester, that's being a responsible citizen, something you have yet to learn to be. Mommy really needs to get to work teaching you something more than cuss words that totally show your ignorance.

Taking a step back from under the NRA's shadow, you'll see that it's neither. What it is, is a classic case of irony.

We've been listening to constant propaganda coming from the heroes of the 2nd Amendment that guarantee that we'll all be safer when everybody is carrying their favorite weapon.

Don't you think it would have been funny as hell to see the expression on the faces of the dearly departed as they both jumped out their vehicles to confront the other...... Until both started banging away!

If this incident is rare, you need to keep in mind that it's only because so few people have fallen for the false sense of security that the NRA is trying to sell all of us.

I'm not nor ever have been under the shadow of the NRA. I disagree with many aspects of the NRA and will continue to do so.
That being said, their propaganda is no worse and any less accurate than that of the anti-gun propaganda. The foolish notion that outlawing guns will stop gun violence is just that...foolish. The proof is right here in Washington D.C. Guns were outlawed in any form in the 70's and yet America's capitol was and always has been one of the worst places for gun violence in the entire U.S. I didn't get that from the NRA by the way, go a web search and see for yourself.
The best solution is to somehow get the guns out of the hands of criminals, gangs, and other questionable people.
How to accomplish this, I have no idea and have noticed you have not offered any solutions either except to imply that removing or repealing the Second Admendment would help. This would accomplish nothing and result in taking guns from honest, law-abiding registered gun owners but would do nothing to remove them from the bad guys.
The rare situation that occured here was just that...rare and you know it.

I'm not sure giving more folks the right to carry concealed will make a difference or increase in gun violence.
I do however agree that a more rigid program certainly would not hurt but it should apply across the board. A detailed background check should be done on anyone wanting to purchase any gun of any kind.

We don't know all the details but I can't help but feel that when the tailgater drew his weapon in anger, the other guy could have backed down and let it go.
I agree that people need to learn to control their anger and find ways to settle differences without violence.
That being said, have a great weekend!!
We've had 60's at night and mid 70's during the day lately. Wonderful fall weather. Sure beats the 100 degree weather we had her last year.

The report I just read and heard today from witnesses said the tailgater followed the first guy who was trying to get out of the way and got out of his vehicle and fired on the first guy. The first guy was merely responding to protect his wife and mother who were with him. I don't disagree that if the weapon had merely been waved around, the other guy could have backed down, but being shot at? Not so much.
