"...but we need to rise above the ends justify the means mentality because we’re here to answer to the people, not just the ones that are wearing our particular party label… If the right of free and open debate is taken away from the minority party, and the millions of Americans who ask us to be their voice, I fear the already partisan atmosphere in Washington will be poisoned to the point where no one will be to agree on anything. That doesn’t serve anyone’s best interest, and it certainly wasn’t what the patriots who founded this democracy had in mind.”- Senator Obama, 2005

“Getting rid of the filibuster has long-term consequences. There’s one thing I’ve learned in my years here. Once you change the rules and surrender the Senate’s institutional power, you never get it back. And we’re about to break the rules to change the rules. I don’t want to hear about fair play from my friends. Under our rules, you’re required to get a two-thirds vote… I mean 60 votes to change the rules… you can not change the Senate rules by a pure majority vote... This is what’s really going on here, the majority doesn’t want to hear what others have to say even if it’s the truth… The nuclear option abandons America’s sense of fair play…I say to my friends on the Republican side, you may own the field right now, but you won’t own it forever. I pray God, when the Democrats take back control, we don’t make the kind of naked power grab you are doing…“ Senator Biden, 2005

“The threat to change Senate rules is a raw abuse of power and will destroy the very checks and balances our founding fathers put in place to prevent absolute power by any one branch of government.” Senator Harry Reid, 2005

Here's the numbers that prove how much the Republicans contributed to the filibuster agenda.......
Eisenhower - Zero
Kennedy - None
Johnson - Zip
Nixon - Nothing
Ford - Zilch
Carter - 2
Reagan - 2
Bush, Sr.- Not a One
Clinton - 9
Bush, Jr.- 7
Obama - 45
Yup, FORTY FIVE TIMES......
Let's all thank the one and only Party of No for all they have contributed to making sure that government works like it always has.
perhaps if the President knew how to "compromise" like the others did, he wouldn't have the issue? Obviously since they didn't use it on Kennedy and only 9 times on Clinton and 2 on Carter(who now looks like a really good President), perhaps the issue still remains with the arrogance of the current sitting President? Of course, as you have proven, you don't believe that, so no surprises there. You and Blue....BFF

On Fox: Sarah Palin weighs in on the “nucular” option and appears to be speaking in tongues
November 24, 2013

http://freakoutnation.com/2013/11/24/on-fox-s...

Sarah Palin weighed in on the filibuster rule changes on Sunday, suggesting that Senate Democrats are involved in a conspiracy to distract from other issues during Thanksgiving dinner. Or something.

On Fox News, host Chris Wallace pointed out to the half term Governor of Alaska that President Obama has faced more than twice the filibusters on nominees than his predecessor.

Watch the Video. Its hilarious! You be the judge – the translation is lost on me.

Sarah Palin Humiliates Herself On Fox News By Not Knowing What the Nuclear Option Is

http://www.politicususa.com/2013/11/24/sarah-...

If Sarah Palin was capable of humiliation and embarrassment, she should be feeling those emotions right now. However, Palin is a narcissist who continues to defend her incorrect definition of slavery. Sarah Palin represents the stupidity of the Republican Party. She is an embarrassment who should not be given one second of airtime anywhere.

The media needs to be held accountable for giving her attention. The best way to do that is to call out her lack of knowledge every time they give her airtime. Her ignorance needs to be reflected back on the media.

Watch the Faux Nose video and judge for yourself.

Looking in the mirror again there little man? You really should seek help, although I heard that the medications that help your issues are in short supply these days?

Yep, we promise not to vote for Sarah Palin. Now instead of reading the words of someone who holds virtually no position of lawmaking authority, let's read again the words of those who do (at these the words they spoke in 2005:

That OK O-nutso. All you have to know is both Houses will be Democrat about a year from now, Obamacare will be implemented and working as designed, and you will have decided (albeit kicking and screaming all the way) on one of the 5 choices I said you have to address your health insurance issue.

Once again we reach the point in a discussion when a progressive is forced to ignore reality and facts, and desperately look to the "what if" fantasy argument.

In case you haven't figured it out, yet. You just lost ... again.

The only reality and facts I need to know are the ones I just laid out for you in my previous comment. As for the rule change, Reid warned the Republicans sometime ago what would happen if the continued with the obstruction and gamesmanship. Reid had the balls to pull the pin and now the games and obstruction by the baggers will quietly come to an end. He probably should have done it months ago.

Yeah, that's it.......

The minority leader of the Senate publicly states that his only goal is to make Obama a one term president..... So it only makes sense that all of that is Obama's fault.

It must be confusing to live in a conservative fog everyday.....

I hear ya, this guy makes Bill Clinton a heck of a lot more official. LoL Obama is the most stupid person, everything he has done is like he is being dictated to, by some other unfriendly country.

How do you "compromise" with a group that refuses to vote on your nominees regardless of who you nominate?

Why don't you ask them? They pulled the same crap when Bush was president. Funny how they were against the nuclear option when it would have worked against them but pull it out now. This will bite them in the a$$ eventually and then they'll all be crying like a bunch of little girls about how 'not fair' it all is. LOL

No, they didn't. The Democrats' use of the filibuster was a small fraction of the current Republicans' use of it.

Additionally, when they did use it, it was to block specific nominees that they did not like (eg Janice Rogers Brown). Republicans are currently blocking ANYONE to fill the DC Circuit Court seats.

Your comparison fails.

Gee, I don't know, how did George Bush do it since the Senate wouldn't even try to vote on his nominees? You folks are so busy blaming Bush for everything and the Republicans for everything else you can think of and yet Bush did manage to get people nominated. How? By negotiating and compromising, something the current President AND Senate Majority leader are refusing to do.
