<quoted text>If you think Michigan is too full of right-wing wackos then why don't you move? Why don't you try living in other more liberal states? I will say again, my plan for the "Big Divorce" (as I will now call it) should suit everyone just fine. The left can have their spurious utopia and the right can get back to our true American roots. See ya!
Do you really think it is as simple as left vs right? and that they really don't share many of the same dreams and ideas for the future? Besides, if i may ask, would'nt Michigan be considered somewhat liberal by your standards, since it was won by the President?

I don't see Michigan currently as a blue state, no. Yes, Obama won Michigan but he did so only because of union support. The fact is, we have a republican led Michigan House and a republican led Michigan Senate as well as a republican Governor. That makes Michigan a red state in its current political formation. In contrast, take a look at who runs states such as New York. Liberals. Look ay what life is like in those states for conservatives will ya? It's a nightmare. Only liberals share liberal values overall and the same can be said of conservatives. This constant tension between the two political ideologies (especially at the federal level which affects all 50 states) will one day beget violence. It's just a matter of time. I think the safest thing to do in order to avoid that situation is for people to separate and live under their own "pure" conservative or liberal states. Divorced couples don't stay with each other do they? and they are much happier away from one another are they not? Same reasoning applies here.

Let the Big Divorce begin.

That divorce was filed for before. Ever learn about the Civil War?

And you are wrong to assert divorced couples stay away from each other. Making it sound like ALL divorced couples. How many times have you been divorced?

Many divorced couples still have a joint concern, if they so choose to honor it, called their children. While there are others that no matter how much they care about the other, respect the other they just can't seem to live under the same roof. It doesn't necessarily mean they can't be around each other. Just not committed to each other.

And I don't mean that to be positive as it may sound. Adults, really true adults have the capability give a lower priority to just thier own adolescent selfishness and learn how to compromise. And compromise doesn't necessarily have to mean one or the other doesn't get any of what they want. Or to give up what they have already contributed to with a reasonably expectation of return.

A true adult that "gets divorced" the way you are saying it should be, does the walking away without expecting others to follow them out for pay for their departures.

There's still land in Alaska to be homesteaded.

So go there if Michigan is so terrible and the other 48 contiguous are so bad. After all, you've "been around long enough" to realize if you are truly unhappy in this beautiful state, there are other options. How about California? I hear that is a taxpayer's delight and you love taxes so much, sounds like a marriage made in heaven!

Using the Civil War as an analogy is ridiculous. The reasons for that are long and complicated and have nothing to do with what I'm suggesting. You just don't like the fact that it could work and probably are against it because you wouldn't be able to rape the taxes out of us conservatives to spend on all of the lefts social pet projects. That's the real issue here isn't it?

Oh but you get me so wrong there. I am a believer in self destiny. So go with my blessings.

If you firmly believe in self destiny then you should support limited government. Do you support Obama's vision of America and federal government?

COME ON NOW. There is no time in recorded history that there weren't governments of some form.

And seeing as the Revolutionary War was won and so many people believe the Founding Fathers were SO AGAINST government, why did they give us one? The opportunity was right there for no central government to be established and the individual states could do as they wished yet they instituted a central government. Why would they do that if they were SO AGAINST government and saw no need for one?

Yes I want it limited. But, to be brutally honest, EVERY TIME I say where I want it limited the right goes into convulsions. So just what does "limited" mean?

What exactly is "limited government"? Government limited only to what I want it limited to? What you want it limited to? What someone else wants it limited to? And seriously a response of what the majority wants it limited to isn't working now. For even the majority because we are hearing so much ranker from the minority as it is.
Well we didn't win so the government is going to implode. Just like it has every time in the past.

This is a conversation that we'd have to have in person. Not just the two of us either. Maybe it's time to have our own round table minus the politicians. This is how the first Continental Congress was formed and look what that led to. I think it's high time everyone out here met face to face and discuss these issues directly. No more bullshit.
