"Times investigation reveals Biden family enmeshed in D.C. money game Obama denounces
The family of Joe Biden, who will be officially nominated as the vice presidential candidate of the Democratic Party's 'reform Washington' ticket with Barack Obama Thursday night, appears to be enmeshed in the same D.C. money game that Obama denounces.

One of the senator's sons -- Hunter, a Washington lobbyist -- and the senator's brother, James --received a $1 million investment in their purchase of a hedge fund company from the senator's largest political donor, an Illinois law firm, SimmonsCooper. The brother and the son subsequently repaid the $1 million to the law firm, which specializes in representing asbestos victims.

At about the same time, the firm also steered dozens of asbestos litigation cases to a Delaware law firm where the senator's other son, Beau, worked before moving on to become elected attorney general of the state of Delaware. Beau Biden is credited with acquiring the Illinois client for his firm whose long time managing partner describes himself as a Biden family friend.

The Democrats' about-to-be vice presidential candidate, who has been a senator in Washington since 1972 when Obama was 11 years old, claims he did not know about any of the sons' or brother's business dealings with the law firm, whose representatives had lobbied his office in the past."

Biden Family Financial Connections Detailed
Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden is facing some questions about his family's lobbying and financial dealings.

The Biden family's connections to SimmonsCooper, an Illinois law firm that specializes in representing asbestos victims, is detailed today in a Los Angeles Times investigation by Chuck Neubauer and Tom Hamburger.

The Times reports that the firm promised to finance a hedge fund deal for Biden's son, Hunter, and brother, James (which ultimately fell through); picked the law firm of another son, Beau, to work on dozens of asbestos cases in Delaware; and that SimmonsCoopers employees donated about $200,000 to Biden's campaign efforts since 2001, making the company his top donor.

Hunter Biden is a Washington lobbyist. Beau Biden, the attorney general of Delaware, gave an emotional introduction to his father at the Democratic Convention last night.

The Times' report follows several stories this week documenting Hunter Biden's lobbying connections and financial dealings:

-- The Post reported yesterday that as a U.S. senator, Barack Obama sought more than $3.4 million in congressional earmarks, including $192,000 for a suburban Chicago university, for Hunter Biden's clients.

-- Hunter Biden received consulting fees from MBNA Corp. over a four-year stretch to work on online banking issues, as his father helped the credit card industry push through a law that made it harder for consumers to file for bankruptcy protection, The New York Times has reported.

"Campaign officials acknowledged that the connection between the Bidens and MBNA, the enormous financial services company then based in their home state of Delaware, was one of the most sensitive issues they examined while vetting the senator for a spot on the ticket," The Times reported.

-- Hunter Biden and Joe Biden's brother, James, have been accused in two lawsuits of defrauding a former business partner and an investor of millions of dollars in a hedge fund deal that went sour, The Post has reported.

Not for overkill or anything, but if Palin's 17 year old daughter is a huge deal, then why isn't this being reported as headline news?

Main stream media is not all over this because they endorse Obama, that has always been a problem when I see a newspaper or any Media endorse a candidate, when they do, you can bet that will be the last of unbias reporting,

They know that Palin can change this entire election. And up until a few days ago, Obama had this wrapped up. They will do anything to help him win. If not, this would be the main stream news, and not the love life of a 17 year old.

A real reformer is coming and the left are besides themselves. Tonight the roof will come off. The media is doing all they can to try to destroy this family. There is one problem though. When told that things could get rough with the left media and that she should think about joining John McCain, she asked the aide, "Do you know the difference between a pitbull and a hockey mom? Lipstick...."

I love it! Honestly, she embodies everything related to the feminist movement that I've ever believed in, except I'm pro the woman making her own reproductive decisions...but I digress. She has a family, a career and a backbone, all things I'm working towards myself.

She will not back down, even in the face of the liberal media. I honestly think she's an amazing role model.

Reform of the same old thing, that isn't reform. The same idea "trickle down", give to the people who have the most and some how it will get down to the middle class. Republican economics don't work for the country just the rich.

I hate to say it Ms. Angie but the reason that's not being pursued is that it's old news and it's really chump change. The Democrats had their real orgy of money and lobbyists last week in Denver and it's the Republican's turn to slum around with the Lobbyists this week. Neither McCain nor Obama and certainly not a 30 year senator like Biden is clean in this kind of matter.

Good Day,

If I remember correctly, and I am no Biden fan, that he is not directly involved or connected. It goes back to things like Billy Beer and Clinton's brother. The actual candidate has not been implicated. Nor do I think it fair for either party to make light of a candidate because of the choices relatives have made. It is the relatives choice, not the candidate.

You act like the rich just got handed their money. During the 80's trickle down did work. Works today. I see it everyday. If is wasn't for the rich, I would not have a job to sell my stuff to them. Sounds like you did not get to the secret meeting to learn how to access the easy money.

Because the corporate media in this country are lapdogs of the TWO parties that are destroying this country for their own gains.
Biden is no friend of the people. When the time came for him to stand up and say "NO THIS IS WRONG" the little punk just shrugged his shoulders and went along with the crowd(patriot act).
Just like Mccain. And I've seen nothing showing me OBAMA has done anything of substance while in the senate to reverse any of the damage done to the constitution from this BS law.

Good Day,

Batch, indeed, less tax and trickle down do work.

Any one remember the fairly recent luxury tax fiasco? The folks in D.C. thought it would be good idea to punish those evil rich folks by implementing a high luxury tax. Guess what happened... that's right they stopped buying cars, yatchs and so on. It devestated many locales. Like small towns that depended upon the sale of yatchs. Companies shut down, people were laid off and some towns nearly disappeared. After enough screaming and yelling from the "little guy" and realizing the folly of passing the tax, it was repealed, and guess what? The demand increased, the companies re-opened, and the jobs returned.

Yeah...and just about the time "trickle down" and less taxes on the "rich" kicked in is when our national debt REALLY took off.
ALL of the benefits you perceive to be enjoying NOW will be paid for by your children and grand children. Our so called prosperity in this country over the last 30 years was all achieved on borrowed money.Money we borrowed from our children WITHOUT their consent.
Politicians(Reps. AND Dems.) paying for their promises with our children's future...there is no honor in that...for ANY of us.

Now if it was one of Bidens sons that got Palins daughter pregnant THAT would be news!
