I am ashamed of my human race that we can harbor such sickness in our society. The fact that these people can even go out to the store or walk around in our neighborhoods disgusts me. They need their faces plastered across every news station and paper and maybe they will suffer the mildest of humiliation and remorse for what they've done...but somehow I don't think that any punishment the courts could render would be sufficient in my eyes.

Help the Pets in Michigan
Animal Lovers in Michigan Unite!!

Animal dealers, known as "Class B dealers," obtain animals for
research facilities through a variety of unorthodox methods and
fraudulent practices, including stealing companion animals from
yards, cars, and farms. As pet owners mourn the loss of pets,
their dogs and cats are often subjected to abusive handling and
exposure to the elements while kept at the premises of Class B
dealers. Pound seizure is the practice of releasing or selling
unclaimed cats and dogs from animal shelters to Class B dealers
or research facilities.

Fortunately, legislation (H.B. 5263) has been introduced in the
Michigan state legislature to prohibit animal care facilities
from selling animals to research facilities and ensure that dogs
and cats used in research and education are not obtained through
fraudulent practices.

To find your representative go to
http://house.michigan.gov/replist.asp

TAKE ACTION
Please make a brief, polite phone call to your Representative and urge
support for this bill.

When you call, you will likely speak to a staff person who can
pass your message along to your legislator. Remember to be
polite and professional, and leave your name and address so it
is clear that you are a constituent. You can say:

"Hello, my name is [your name] and I am calling from [your city]
to ask Representative to support H.B.
5263 to regulate Class B dealers and pound seizure. Thank you."

After making your call, send a follow-up email to your
representative to reiterate your support for this legislation.

Finally, please tell your friends and family in Michigan how
they can take action.
Thank you for all you do for animals!

Sincerely,

Mike Markarian

It seems to me the poor scared, skinny, cold and shaking dog they took to Montcalm County Animal
shelter just jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire. That shelter has a terrible reputation! I hope R&R research does not make his normal rounds and want the dog or that the dog is not abused by the shelter itself.(hopefully, the recent negative publicity will protect the dog.) Montcalm residence, you need to demand a change at the shelter and now is the time. Please dont lose your chance.

I contacted PETA. Go to the Peta website and e-mail them about what you can do to help make things better for animals in our community.

People have been trying to stop it for years! But unfortunately, unless you have proof, they fall on deaf ears. Then people found out why...the shelter has a contract with them!

"slave girl" should have had orders to take care of their animals. Everytime I see this on the news I get physically ill.
I do know that many in the Master/Slave lifestyle put their needs and pleasures above everything else. They will pay hundreds of dollars for for restraints and whips, yet be living in poverty. PRIORITIES I'm pretty sure if they have children, they should be removed. Their kids are being raised to believe that living in filth and surrounded by suffering animals is normal and healthy. If "slave girl" chooses this life, fine, but do it without children and animals. There is nothing Safe, Sane and Consensual about this. My thoughts are, slave girl would probably enjoy being tied up for a while. Her husband did not seem to be all that broken up about the whole situation.

This is sick and I seriously hope that these people go to jail. I think their children should be taken away from them. I cannot believe that this happened so close to home.

Funny how the issues get b.low.n off until the media gets involved, then they are all scrambling.

I'm waiting to hear what happened yesterday afternoon as well. I was hoping WZZM would have an update...

I myself would have liked to attend the meeting, but unfortunately I am working at 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

Wodenberg needs to be put out of business, let alone gassed himself!! Someone is being paid off to say that the MDA gave this place a "positive review". And to hear that the MDA has no authority over communications within the shelter?? Then who does? I can't believe that our own state government can't do a frickin' thing about this!!

This is a truly horrible story and I hope that the people responsible are prosecuted fully.
On another note, I see how many people are outraged by this case and rightfully so. Having said that, I would like to say that we have so many wonderful animal rescue organizations in West Michigan. We are volunteers for one of them as a foster home for dogs. We get to take them out of the shelter saving them from being put to sleep and giving them a loving home until they are adopted. It is such a rewarding feeling being a volunteer. These rescues dedicate so much time to saving animals and do it based off of donations. So if you are really outraged by this story and can find it in your heart to donate to a local animal rescue that would be great! Whether you can donate time, money, animal food, blankets, laundry detergent, bleach, animal toys, etc. Whatever it is that you can do to help those people who dedicate their lives to saving animals would be wonderful! And if you are looking for a new furry family member, check out a website like petfinder.com . to adopt one of these animals that has been rescued from lives of neglect and abuse. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
Just wanted to re-post this again.

Exactly She Devil. Makes me wonder who should be prosecuted here. The owners or the county? Perhaps both.
