We just switched back to DirecTV from Comcast. We're getting our tv, internet, and a landline (they're in partnership with AT&T) for between $80-$90 a month. Of course, we haven't gotten the first bill yet, so we'll see about the hidden fees and such. But it's still a LOT less than we were paying with Comcast, and we're getting a ton more channels.

Oh - and the HD converter is included in their equipment - you don't have to buy a special box.

They are "realigning" the channels (again).. the TV Guide channel is now channel 100 and available to basic subscribers who use a digital receiver.

What was channel 38? Did you rescan the channels with your tv if you are not using their set top receiver?

I miss the days when TV was free.....yeah we get more channels now but I find it hard to believe that it's worth $80 a month or more to have all these cable channels. Bottom line is you still have the same number of hours to watch TV. I look forward to the day when the internet & TV are one. And I HOPE that it becomes a better 'packaged' price. I'd love to be able to google a movie and just watch it. I know....I'm dreaming...

We switched to Direct TV after Comcast raised our rates and took away channels. This was over 5 years ago and we are THRILLED with Direct TV. On very rare occasions we lose signal due to weather, but the longest it has been out is 10 minutes. We used to have our cable go out for hours. We love Direct TV...no more cable for us.
