I see that my other post out here was erased. That is a shame because it didn't use threatening language or in any break the rules of posting on Topix boards. It did however, link people to a possible truth that a few "liberal scum" who work for the Topix group decided to erase due to the fact that it significantly damage the Democrat (socialist) brand. Therefore, I have decided to lodge a formal complaint against the actions of the Topix moderators for the seditious act of violating the 1st Amendment.

That being said, they claim they are going to hold traffic to 55 mph. I have news for them...the average speed, on a work day on the 495 beltway, isn't much over 25 mph...if you are moving at all.

Blocking 495 will not serve to help their popularity or their cause at all.

I see it as a message being sent. It will be received but almost certainly ignored, the demands that is. I would be surprised if they actually try and arrest whoever it is they have on their list( I can think of a few names) because the last I checked, truckers don't carry badges. I think we'll see more of this kind of stuff unless those idiots running the Federal government learn the definitions of their jobs.

What are these fools going to do? Drive around and act all badassy? What the hell is that going to prove? All that comes out of this is a couple hundred hillbillies wasting their fuel and wasting their time. Hopefully a few will try and pass the line and get their dumbasses thrown in jail or shot. Oh no! What will we do with one less truck driver?

Anybody want to bet that Dr. X will be supporting this by blocking off Mommy's driveway with his little red wagon?

They could and should find a better way to send their message directly to congress. The only folks who will receive any message by blocking the Beltway (495) are the people who drive that road, and most members of congress don't, so it will hardly be heard by them other than in the news.
The arrest thing I think was bs from the git-go.

We'll see if they go through with it. They won't have any impact on speed however. Rarely, if ever, does traffic run at 55 mph during the day so the biggest impact will be slower start-ups from all the stop-and-go traffic. That, and if they actually show up in the numbers they claim, will displace room for 4 to 5 cars per big truck. That will cause backups on 270 South, 95 North from Richmond, 66 East from Front Royal, Balt Wash Parkway South from Baltimore, and several others.

The only thing they will impact or hurt are their fellow Americans trying to make a living getting to work.

The difference between my house and your house is that you can actually drive yours away.

Washington D.C. is total gridlock, I know. We took the kids there this past summer and decided to drive from Michigan. Bad choice! D.C. is a spaghetti bowl of traffic with some real road rage going on there but they have a very good (clean) subway system. Those truck drivers may find a lot of pissed off motorists should they block traffic for an entire weekend. I think a better idea would've been to have a million skydivers jump all over D.C. all at once just like Normandy. That would be epic.

Turns out the truckers impact was minimal at best. As usual, the area drivers caused themselves more trouble than any other factor. The reason...it was raining...there were more wrecks on 495 and the in-feeding highways than I've seen in a long time. The incompetent drivers here are abundant.
Apparently their numbers were also exaggerated...only a few dozen showed up instead of the thousands predicted.

If you return to the D.C. area I'd suggest staying in the suburbs close to a Metro station. Don't attempt to drive into D.C. because it's a traffic and parking nightmare. Visit places like Gettysburg and Mt Vernon during the week to avoid the weekend crowds.

Have a nice weekend!!!

This will be the same thing that happens when the good Dr. X and his alter ego Dark Moth decide they've had enough living under majority rule!

Bobbie, your problem is that you have no culture...... You are without a center nor history....
