when is michigan going to be proactive and instead of just treating the symtoms of job loss what is the state legislature doing to encourage jobs?

i mean seven week more unemployment on top of the three extensions already available is great and all, but what about 2 months from now when everyone is still unemployed?

yet another extension?

i see michigan and alot of other states as just treating the symtomes of this problem, while the disease itself contunues to run rampant?

we cant all be on welfare and unemployment.
someone has to be able to pay the bills and debt that the state keeps stacking up.

that takes a JOB.
not more unemployment or foodstamps.

But that is what this administration wants, everyone to be reliant on the government for everything.
Socialism at it's best.
But what they don't seem to remember is that every country that has tried socialism has proven that it doesn't work.
Guess we have a "better idea".

and "nice".

no i am not hiring.

the only job growth in the country seems to be in the government sector.
maybe you can get a job at the unemployment office answering the phone.
i hear they are are the only place in michigan hiring at the moment,
and you have to "know somebody" to get that job.

i'm not on welfare.
and regardless of who is, whining about the government, president, or state will do nothing.

get off your duff, transition your lifestyle and quit making excuses.

nobody feels sorry for you, so you should quit feeling sorry for yourself.

i have faith that you can succeed.
prove me right.

god bless

If you are "under employed" you can go to your local MichWorks office and get either job training or go back to school. The State will pay for it and maybe you can leave the company you are with. I also would go to Michigans unemployment website, DLEG?, and see if maybe you qualify for some unemployment. Whatever you do, do not quit your job. You will then, most likely, be ineligible for unemployment. Good luck.

Hey "wah", why is it you are the only one that can complain? You do just as much whinning as anybody else does. Have you ever thought that maybe people just need to get things off their chests here on the forums because they don't want to take it out on their families and friends? Let people vent and whine and if you don't like it, find another forum or start your own.

Do not quit your job or you will forfeit any unemployment. I would check out the unemployment website, UIA, and see if they have the answer there for you. It sounds like maybe you would be considered under-employed and that means you could be eligible for job training. Check with your local Mich Works office and they should be able to answer your questions on job training but not unemployment.

Can a small business owner or family member employed by the owner collect unemployment if work hours are reduced due to lack of work?

Can employees of a business that goes under still collect unemployment? What about same question for owner or family?

I was laid off from a Grand Rapids Auto dealer and fallowed the unemployement benefit rules, Was granted benefits for three months, then abruptly was denied. Then had to go to court because the state wanted me to pay restitution. Fortunately won my case but could not get the rest of my benefits. I have been under investigation for my appeal for almost a year now. Have lost my retirement, car, credit is ruined, and still have not herd anything. Fortunatly I just got a job a week ago. It's the first job I was accepted for in over a year. What is it going to take to find out about my case? I have been very disapointed with this state..

What can I do? I worked for a church and was asked to find a new job. I have not found a new job and no longer work for the church. The church does not pay into unemployment so I am not eligible. What can I do? It's been 9 months now with no income.
