The gun store I work at has CCW classes every Saturday.

They're booked solid through the middle of June.

I heard at the store the NRA voted Obama the "Gun Salesman of the Year."

It's more about a person's right to keep and bear arms than about people being concerned that they won't be able to carry concealed.

Great, All Michigan needs is more people carrying guns. What a stupid law, I think that it should be overturned and the CCW permits should be invalidated. The only real use for hand guns is to shoot people. I have never met a hunter that uses a Glock 9mm. I can understand wanting to have rifles and shotguns for hunting, but what good is a handgun for really?

I absolutely disagree with you. People carry concealed as a means of personal protection and I believe it is a law abiding citizen's right to do so. How many CPL holders do you hear of holding up a 7-11? Chances are the person committing the crime that should not have a firearm in the first place.

And if a CPL used violates any law, their CPL license is pulled. Hell, they have to go in front of the gun board in Kent county to even OBTAIN a CPL!

I am in the process of finishing my CPL. I have had classes, range training, safety instruction, and a legal course just on the MI laws involved with carrying concealed. I store my firearm legally, transport it legally, and follow all of the safety guidelines.

I wish more gun owners took the time to go through the CPL classes since the number one means of preventing a firearm related accident is through education in the care, use, handling, loading, unloading, and storage of a firearm.

So you tell me. Who is more responsible in firearm use? Joe schmo, who never got his CPL, a CPL carrier that has had training and classes, or the thug down on Hall and Division?

CPL carriers are NOT the problem when it comes to firearms. And I know of personal stories where the fact someone was carrying concealed prevented either their own death or the death of someone else.

Existing CPL's invalidated? What a laugh.

Ask the guy that just got the beat down in Kzoo by 40 plus if he wish he had a handgun. Ask the families of the jewlery store owners if they wished their loved ones had handguns. Your right, the only use of a handgun is to shoot people. Bad people. Taking away rights of law abiding people only give criminals the advantage, seeing how they dont follow the law anyway.

Of course the jump in CPL applications has everything to do with Barry being elected to the whitehouse and absolutely nothing to do with the rising violent crime rates in the aforementioned counties. What an ignorant suggestion from county officials. I would pose that it is because the police have miserably failed to prevent crime as a result of adopting protectionsist departmental policies, and have long since relegated themselves to solely being a reactionary force.

Please note that State statistics failed to show where a single of the more than 200,000 CPL licenses issued since 2001 resulted in an unjustified homocide.

You should also not be allowed to possess a fire extinquisher in your home, life jackets on your boat, or tartar control tooth-paste.

I believe that gun control is needed at all levels and that it is certainly too easy for a criminal to obtain a gun. However I don't agree with you that just because someone has taken a CPL course that means their gun won't be used for murder. I am sure the parents of the Columbine shooters wish that they had not had guns that were easily accessible. I am sure that every time I read a story about someone "accidentally" shooting someone else the same thoughts apply. I don't buy in to the fight gun violence with more guns theory. It doesn't make sense, how about less guns and less shooting and murder.

someday, someone like you is going to be standing around, hands in the air thinking, man if i only had a gun.a pistol for all intensive purposes is used to protect, its compact for a reason,if the citzens of the USA were better armed and informed there would be less idiots with stolen weapons stealing your/our stuff.Edu cation is the key not alarmist attitudes towards the right to defend yourself
