This is disgusting. There can be no excuse for mocking the Special Olympics. These people and their families who have struggled against incredible hardships deserve only praise and respect. Obama needs to make an apology at the least. In an unguarded moment we see the polished image of a caring inclusive figure is just that, all smoke and mirrors. If any other public figure would have made such a comment they would have been pilloried. The media is at their best or as usual their worst, ignoring or covering for their annoited one.

I saw the show and your making it out to be more than it was, but it's OK when Jay, or any other comic does it and you laugh?

a). it was a joke. Not a good one, but a joke nonetheless and...

b). the joke will be on him when he is challenged by a Special Olympian to a game of some sort and he loses badly. Special Olympians are great athletes and people. Then we can let this all go.

I am the mother of a child that has been involved in special olympics and I nor my child were offended. He was not saying anything in regards to those that partake in special olympics he was referring to his own bowling game.
My own child and many others from the school he goes to call people retards and idiots. Does that mean that they are right? NO! Do they actually believe that these others are reatrded or idiotic? NO!
Everyone wants to throw a fit over it and it really was not that big a deal. If Mr. Obama had named names I could see where people would get upset but he was only poking fun at his own sad game of bowling?

I am sorry to disappoint you but I am neither for the democrats or the republicans. If Bush had made this comment it would not have affected us either.
What you need to understand is that people with disabilities can take things in stride more so than those who have no disabilities per say.
They have a better understanding of the fact that everyone is different and has flaws.None of us are perfect but we are all supposed to be human!

Actually I could care less about any of the morons who have run this country into the ground.I do not feel the need to protect any of them. I have never voted for a president because none have been trustworthy enough to vote for. They all lie like H E L L to win the election and I do not care for liars and cheats.
I have no need to lie about my son and his different abilities. We deal with his issues and do not expect anyone else to feel sorry for him. Thanks!

The first thing President Obama did when he boarded Air Force One was to call Tim Shriver and apologize. No one needs to give him a free pass. Even he knew it was wrong the minute he said it. Forget former Presidents. This is about Obama's character. He's the leader of this country. I'm still waiting for him to act like it. I expect my 19 year old brother to make juvenile cracks. I don't expect it of a Harvard educated seemingly intelligent adult. No excuses.

Exactly. This is much ado about nothing. It's just an opportunity for those who oppose Obama to wind up and throw more stones at him. If Special Olympians and their families are not insulted by what Obama said, then why should anyond else take umbrage. Obama apologized. Let it go, people. We have much more important things to be concerned with.

Why yes we do, which is exactly why Obama should have never appeared on Leno to begin with. Far more important things to be concerned with is right.
