whether those in our government have become paranoid or simply quest for authoritarian power, it has begun.
the overt collection of personal and private communications, expansion of illicit powers of branches of government, a congress of eunuchs, and an apathetic, self-interested public.
anyone who thinks so-called disclosure before a some milquetoast committee is as stupid as they are naive.
terror has won.
in its deceptively simple and subtle way, it has successfully permeated and marinated fear into the very core and fiber of this country.
the overt deaths and destruction are but a prelude to what we will eventually and ultimately do to ourselves with little or no persuasion from outside sources.
our very so-called success as a nation has become our downfall.
we are fast becoming the poor, huddled masses, except there is no welcoming harbor to flee too.
when you think about it, of all of the major civilizations that preceded this nation, we were fastest to rise and earliest to fall; we are becoming nothing more than a rhetorical footnote.

You seem to be on a very negative thought process today.

The Patriot Act did indeed start during the Bush administration, and you and your fellow liberals were so upset about it.
But now, it is somehow different when Obama does the same thing!
It's the hypocrissy from the left that just seems so confusing.
You were SO upset over the Patriot Act during the Bush years, but now, it is o-k under Obama.
Still blaming Bush?
I for one dont really care. They can record my phone calls all they want,..I've nothing to hide.
As far as I'm concerned, if it helps with our national security so be it!
Obama is nothing more than Bush on steroids's...
He took the Patriot Act to the extreem.
Unless you are doing something wrong, you shouldnt have anything to worry about.

Seems Wiggley, Bob and Jules were against the Patriot Act before they were for it. Or maybe there were for it, then they were against it and now they're for it again? So hard to keep track when they flip-flop their positions more than a fish on deck. They're such good little useful idiot lemmings. They probably hope that King Barry is listening and will reward them for spouting the party line like good little drones.

Yes,......hard to figure them out.
They keep flip flopping around.
When Bush enacted the Patriot Act they were against it, but now that Obama has expanded the act, they are all for it.
Go figure....

I knew BHO was some kind of authoritarian the moment I heard his glorious speech at the 2004 democrat convention. And all of his subsequent interviews and speeches prove it anyone who says "let me be clear" as often as he does also proves he thinks he is in charge of us all, well I guess now with the ACA he actually is and his minions in the IRS will be collecting taxes so we can go to a doctor. Seems to me that's why the revolutionary war was fought to thwart the authority of the crown. Soon we will be fighting the red jackets of BHO Civilian Defense Force.

Generalizing yet again Jules? Please provide proof we were "for it when Bush was in office", otherwise you are just blowing smoke.

To be honest,...I really dont care.
I'm not flip flopping at all, didnt care then, dont care now.
It's funny, because it's you liberals that are making the big issue out of this. You were SO against Bush over the Patriot Act, but now that Obama has expanded it you are defending him for it.
YOU people are the flip flopping hypocrites!
Swing and miss, Epic fail!
You just dont seem to understand how much I dont care!
As far as I'm concerned, if our government doing these things helps to prevent a terrorist act and saves lives, so be it.
I really dont care, they can record my phone calls and read my e-mails, just dont care.
You liberals are just upset because it was one of your fellow liberal government workers that leaked out this information, that everyone already knew was going on anyway, and now he has to hide from the government that employed him.
One more liberal that will go to jail.
No big deal, there full of them already,.....whats one more?

It took a liberal to leak this because liberals are the only group that understand the meanings of liberty and freedom. When a government over steps it's bounds then someone has to speak up. The government is not above us, they are not our controllers. They are supposed to be for us and by us. No government is bigger than the people it represents. I've been against this whole patriot act since the beginning. It was you, the conservatives, who stayed silent when Bush initiated this act. You stood by and did nothing and allowed this to take root. Now that a Democrat is in the White House, all of a sudden conservatives are filled with anger and outrage. Liberals were filled with anger and outrage back when this was initiated and many still are, they see this as a travesty against our liberties and our freedom. Just because a Democrat is in the White House doesn't mean that all liberals are all for these acts of intrusion. Case in point, Michael Moore recently came out and called this guy who leaked this information an American hero. And yes, he was up in arms back when Bush and Cheney got the ball rolling. Ideals and values don't change with the political winds, if they do they never held any weight to begin with.

all of this mindless and senseless quibbling about nothing that anyone posting here can or will affect is the essence of the event being touted. if not one word would have surfaced, our little world would have plodded merrily along no one the wiser. maybe it should have remained that way.
after all the hubbub settles down, which it eventually will and the courts send those who were implicated, home without their supper, it will all resume with even better command and control practices in place.

let's see, nationalized medicine, nationalized
communications, nationalized housing, nationalized privacy ...

we need to amend the statue of liberty solicitation to include ...in exchange all that we ask in return is complete and total government access to your life. a small price to pay for admission to the greatest country in the world.

So in other words, you're gnashing your teeth for something that isn't going to effect you or anyone else? Strange...... Then why are so many people acting like they'll be scooped up any minute by the Nazi, Fascist, Commie, Muslim Government?

It seems that a large portion of the population enjoys fearing those things that can't harm them!
