CONServatives whined about the "lawless" Abraham Lincoln when he signed the Executive Order known as "The Emancipation Proclamation." That's right GOPhers - Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation was an EXECUTIVE ORDER bypassing Congress declaring over 3 million slaves were Free. Parse that!

Ironically, today's GOPhers try and claim Abraham Lincoln as their own even though the only similarity he has with them is in name only...

The fact is, Lincoln called himself a Republican back when the Republican Party was founded as a progressive abolitionist party...

Lincoln... the man who said, "capitalists generally act harmoniously and in concert to fleece the people" ...

Lincoln... the man who said, "Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.”

Lincoln... the man who believed in government as a force for good, created the federal income tax - a progressive tax, the federal bank, the draft, believed in a strong federal government and used the power of the strong federal government to force private business owners to stop owning other human beings, thus, using government to play a role in protecting in minorities from the tyranny of the majority...

...has nothing in common with today's Republicans but a name.

Lincoln, a Republican was FOR everything GOPhers are AGAINST today.

Apparently Pippy just LOVES revisionist history. No surprise there since the progressives are known for revising anything to suit their purposes. Perhaps, just perhaps, pippy, you know how to read a link that does NOT have pictures? Of course, since it isn't huffpo, thinkprogress, or any other leftist hit piece blog, you will discount this link that shows the ACTUAL history of the income tax. What a silly cowardly buffoon you are pippy.

Without doubt it was lifted from one of the ridiculously anti-American radical progressive crapsites aimed at the easily-manipulated voting herd. They simply bombard these poor confused bastards with revisionist theories then sit back and watch the tools regurgitate their hogwash all over the net.

Either this moron pippy is another goggle-eyed ACORN volunteer tasked with going on to political chat sites to trash them up with this kind of nonsensical garbage, or he's just a lonely loser who feels he's part of a "family" in progressivism. Either way, there's no question he's out of work and has no intention of seeking gainful employment any time soon. What's the benefit in paying him any attention.

I'm certainly done responding to this idiot's posts, and I highly suggest the rest of you consider the same. There's virtually no point in engaging a troll, and if he is a pathetic political activist you're only helping him do his "job" by engaging him. I'd actually give him some credit if he were involved in some sort of activism, but there's a far better chance he's just one of the hapless lonely fools out there who's only means of feeling relevant is from behind the security of a computer screen.

Stop engaging the troll and you'll deny his reason for being here.

Quoted from the Source:

"The origin of the income tax on individuals is generally cited as the passage of the 16th Amendment, passed by Congress on July 2, 1909, and ratified February 3, 1913; however, its history actually goes back even further. During the Civil War Congress passed the Revenue Act of 1861 which included a tax on personal incomes to help pay war expenses. The tax was repealed ten years later."

Quoted from an Additional Source:

"In 1862, in order to support the Civil War effort, Congress enacted the nation's first income tax law. It was a forerunner of our modern income tax in that it was based on the principles of graduated, or progressive, taxation and of withholding income at the source. During the Civil War, a person earning from $600 to $10,000 per year paid tax at the rate of 3%. Those with incomes of more than $10,000 paid taxes at a higher rate. Additional sales and excise taxes were added, and an “inheritance” tax also made its debut."

I'll fully understand when you patriots announce that these sources are leftist organizations staffed with socialists, communists, fascists, and Nazis...... No proof required from you, whatsoever!

Considering how badly you've been beaten up lately by Bob, Luxford and myself, its you who've become irrelevant Oneal. Maybe you ought to invest more time reviewing health care choices on the exchanges or try doing something about fixing your trailer roof, don't ya think?

As usual, you and your alter ego pippy totally missed the point of the link. And since you are so terribly dense these days, I will be happy to spell it out for you. Pippy apparently didn't realize that the income tax he was so happy to pin on Lincoln was temporary and repealed in 1872? He also apparently didn't realize that the permanent income tax came into being in 1913 with the 16th amendment. President Woodrow Wilson signed it into law. Now, since I am certain that this next fact will make you both uncomfortable, but President Wilson was a Democrat. Gee, gotta hate it when your information gets busted, don't ya???

And its obvious you're too stupid Dizzy to comprehend or consider the context of my comment that started this thread. I know its definitely well above your IQ or abilities but at least give us an excuse this time for twisting my comment into your silly little dog and pony show. Is it just because you're plain too stupid to comprehend the correct context of my comment or is it because you're of generations of inbreeding. Either way its not your fault is it? Lets hear your plea Dizzy.

The only dog and pony show going on here pippy is you. And your IQ would make an ant look smart, but I digress. The only point you ever have is on top of your head. And, who cares what you think? All you are is the alter ego for Bobby when he can't figure out how to use profanity in every post and get away with doing it. You are probably one of his "golfing" children that he so loves to play with. I would feel bad for you, but I just can't manage it.

In this case, I will defer to the mental illness you have requiring that you are always correct.

The income tax that was levied against income during the civil war was not an income tax, even though numerous sources, including yours, said that it was. This income tax that wasn't really an income tax was temporary, and therefor, couldn't possibly be pinned to a Republican President. Whew!

On the other hand, one of those dirty Democrats was the president when the current income tax was established as an amendment to the constitution. So the income tax that really is an income tax was the dirty Democrat's fault!

That sure makes me feel better to know that nothing that isn't permanent didn't really happen!

Maybe I won't vote for President Obama in 2016...... Those dirty Democrats!

Lincoln had the honesty and decency to at least pay for a war by calling for and instituting a progressive income tax. Bush II started wars with lies while giving the rich a tax break and charging those wars by raising deficits -- deficits the American people are still pay off along with dealing with worldwide financial crisis and depression Bush and his neo-con power mongers and bankers caused.

Parse that!

Bob, please vote for Obama in 2016. Then you can say you voted for someone who won something.

Pippy, whenever you decide to grow up and stop blaming everyone else for your inadequacies, perhaps people will talk to you like you matter. Until then, well little man, you have a problem.
