we weren't looking for mismarks. it was just there in the store. not our fault. we didn't network or anything...read the story. mismarked items are honored by the store, that's part sales. when you advertise a price, you are committed to that price and when someone says they would like to buy that item, you can't just change it at the last second. so, say you go to buy a pair of shoes. you look around and decide on a pair that fit nicely and that you like for $45. as you are completing your sale, the worker tells you, no, these shoes are actually $60. so you say, "will you honor the price?" and they lie to you and say that their computers don't do that. that's a lie and would make you mad. before you judge, put yourself in that situation

Honoring a mismarked price isn't 'sales', it's the law. If an item is marked with a specific price, they must sell it to you at that price.

The other day I was picking up some meds for my horse and found a dog toy at West Michigan Vet Clinic in Coopersville I wanted. I went to the counter to pay for it and was told the price was higher then the price marked on it, because they had a price increase. I told them "that isn't how it works" and the female Vet there was real snotty and said to the lady on the computer, ok go ahead and sell it to her at the original price. Like where in the world would you pay more then the price marked on it. That Vet is a butthead!

Furniture Row will do some "fuuny" ads too! You buy it, then they decide if you are a Tier 1 or Tier 2 customer. Just hurts to be upfront with folks I guess.

Open the door and walk into an Art Van once. It's almost like you have been turned in to a piece of meat that was just thrown inside the lions cage.
You shouldn't judge all the stores from just visiting one. It depends on the people that work in the store and the management team.

You are so right about your post. I bought what looked like a beautiful sofa and chair with an ottoman and when they delivered it about 2 weeks after I had the furniture a spring broke in the sofa and they would not fix or replace it. That is the last time I will ever go to Art Van to buy furniture. They need to have a going out of business sale for as good as there furniture is.

This guy lives in one of the biggest mansions in the country. That's good for him.The problem is he is a cheap fat slob who will screw anyone for a buck.Try and return anything.Good luck.Call em out on a scam ad.Good luck.Example.My wife and I went to buy a mattress at one of his many scam sales.50% off.Sure thing Art.The mattress we picked was priced at $3300.00.We figured with the scam discount it would be half that.RIGHT! Nah,it was $3300.00.The salesman said the discount was based on suggested retail. So that means the mattress was $6600.00.Sure thing dirt bag.We walked and spent our money somewhere else.If you become successful based on being honest, good for you.If you do it like this guy you are scum.

These guys (and a warehouse outlet that I will not name) are huge on bait an switch and trickery to get you in the door. Once you're in the door, they'll put you through the ringer until you buy something.

My wife and I went to this place, and literally had to hide behind furniture to get away from the salesmen.

I agree the salesman/women annoy the heck out of me. However, I usually go into the clearance section. Very few salesman/women there. They had a 3 piece bistro on sale for under $50 that was perfect for my deck up north. Bought it and left. Also bought a new chair there about a year ago out of the clearance section (one of those rockers with footstool that are the newer style ( they go for $500 at Talsman. I got it for 1/2 that, dang thing was $150 about 2 months later. Still happy with it, as with my small corner curior cabinet. I know what I am looking for and if too many salespeople bother me, I simply just say, if I need you I will look for a salesperson.

So you may have noticed that Art Van was running a special advertising no interest, no tax. I purchased some furniture recently and was told that when I received the bill in the mail, the tax would be missing, although the store receipt included it.
Sure enough when I received the bill, the tax was on there. I complained and was told that it is illegal for them not to charge tax. I of course became livid. The store manager indicated he had taken the tax off of each piece of furniture and just added it to the grand total, thus saving me money. I told him its the same amount of tax no matter when its applied. I don't think he planned on being called out like that. I asked the store manager to at least be honest with me. He indicated it was a marketing ploy.
Now granted, it was only 186 dollars on a 2K plus bill, but man I am steamed. Thought I'd save some of you the headache.
um. duh.

I don't know which is more stupid, the fact that you fell for that or that somebody would actually be stupid enough to even consider paying $3,300 for a damn mattress.

Boy did they see your stupid ass coming.
