Why on earth would someone have their dog outside on a chain in the winter in the first place?

Unlike you & me, some people leave their animals outside 24/7. This was obviously the case for this poor dog. So sad....

They could have even just put the dog out to go to the bathroom and only intended on leaving him out there for a few minutes when this happened. The story is too vague to know any details.

I agree Red, it is sad.

My dog jumps my fence. He has to be tied when outside. If he gets loose he is GONE, long gone. Last night someone snuck in my yard and untied my dog during his pott.y break. Luckily since it's so cold out he pees quick and then is back in. We noticed he was gone right away and found him a mile or so from my house. I know someone untied him again because his leash was between the screen door and the main door. I don't think my dog can open the door to leave his chain between two doors.
This also happened this past summer too. Someone took him and we got him back after a week.(I stole him from the persons yard who took him from me)

I don't agree with chaining a dog 24/7. I also don't agree with leaving a dog outside 24/7. I just don't feel it's right.

Hey you bunch of idiots what in that story said that the dog is left out 24/7. Let's not blame the owner quite yet. Think before you send your comments you idiots (yes, I thought about it before I sent it).

Back off tiger...no need for name calling! Sometimes people get very upset when something sad and senseless happens to animals, but naming calling and nastiness won't help!

Relax, don't jump down everyone's throat. I don't see anyone blaming the owner, its just sad that this happened. Need to rethink your posts and act in a more civilized manner.

I have a dog that lives outside 70% of the time. He prefers that. He is 1/2 huskey and 1/2 golden retriever, he hates being insie more than an hour, he gets so hot. I have a hard time just getting him back in the house because hes lying in a snow bank crashed out. He loves the snow and I dont think its cruel to leave him out there, in fact due to his coat its cruel to leave him inside all day, after awhile he is at the door begging to go out

First of all , why would you put your dog on a chain ?? I had a friend that told me she had a dog that her dad put on a chain & her dog died because it was thundering outside & her poor puppy got electrocuted . Awww , poor dog !
