Here is the start of our list. What can we do to make sure that the stuff we buy is made here in the US. The first thing we can do is figure out what is made here and what is not, sometimes that is not easy. Menards is having a Made In USA sale this week so that is a good place to start, what else do we know for sure is made in USA.

That is one of the most ignorant posts I've read this year. That's saying something.

How's the Georgia Klan doing? I have a free vacation for you in Detroit, why don't you come on up with your rebel pick em up truck and all those Teabagger/Rebel decals, license plates and flags, bring some of your Klan buddies. There are a couple of strip clubs down there on 8 Mile that I can make arrangments for you to park that rebel truck and all your rebel crap right by the front door so the bouncers can watch it for you while you and your buddies are being "entertained" inside by some buddies of Kwame Kilpatrick. On your way up roll the windows down and practice yelling the N word real loud, they love it when a bunch of hillbillys roll in with their cowboy hats, boots and rebel attitudes. They have copies of President Obama's birth certificate on the wall and they give out complimentary copies to patrons when they leave, I will make sure they get you a special autographed one, they will stick it in the gurney for you when you wake up.

Until you have the you know whats to take that vacation, stuff it with your racist birther crap, that argument is over, it has been thrown out of court several times, the folks pushing it are nuts like Orley Taitz or they are just pure racists, there is no other explanation. I sent to NJ for a copy of my birth certificate and the one they sent looks very like the one Obama disclosed, that is the type we get now unless somewhere in our parents stuff you can find the original. Get over it and have fun in Motown, I think you are their kind of guy.

Okay, cowboy up. Do you think that the post I was replying to is truthful, productive, relevant in any way? Or are you yet again simply disagreeing with me because it's me?

You talk tough, but you don't have the where with all to do anything anyway. Again, calling everyone who disagrees with you a racist is getting as old and tiresome as your BDS. Get a grip Pete and stop trying to provoke people into something you truly don't have the courage to do.

Truthful - Not yet decided, now is it?
Productive - Opinion based assessment.
Relevant - More relevant to the topic than your own post was.
As for the disagreeing with you is not because it is you, it is because I disagree with what you are saying. I have, many times in fact, agreed with you.
Any other questions?
And BTW, Made in America is great, but it would be even better if it were made in America by American owned companies.

Yes, it was decided. Like it was decided that Bush won in 2000. Hanging on to the birther thing is pathetic. And bringing it into a topic like this, that we should all be able to get behind, is childish.

I agree 100%

Rather hard to believe the BBQ grills on sale (igniters, etc) are 100% USA. Maybe "Made in the USA" can sometimes mean "Assembled in the USA"? Even Harley's are not 100% "Made in USA". Still, I'd buy something 80% made here than 100% made overseas. If labeled "Made in America", does that include "South America"? Tad bit of difference there and marketing strategies can be sketchy. LOL

Anyway, for those out there that buy "mechanic type" hand tools (wrenches, sockets, etc...), maybe especially the ladies or kids for their husbands/boyfriends/dad, don't be fooled by the Taiwan, China made tool set with the printed label stating "Suggested Retail $199.99" and they are priced at $19.95. You get what you pay for. Too often I have overheard family members in awe over the price of these items, "super deal" for Fathers Day, etc.... Of course Dad will smile and love the "gift", but when he comes in from the garage with a busted knuckle from a cheap made socket slipping/cracking... the tool set wasn't such a good deal after all. One trip to the emergency room can cost more than the better made tool. As far as I know, there is no substitute for "Quality" USA made hand tools... SK, etc....

While I'm here... I also believe any item sold with an American flag affixed or printed on its packaging or otherwise should be 100% "American Made & Assembled". American flags... whether "sticker size", 3' x 5' or even 30' x 60' should be 100% American made. Import any damn thing you wish, but... but Old Glory? To me, there's something inherently wrong here. That line should have been drawn many years ago. If other nations want "The Real Deal", let them import flags from the US.

It was?

Wait, please tell me the ruling of the judges at the trials in the cases brought to release the documents requested. Umm I don't think you will be able to do that, because the cases never came to trial. They were dismissed as the people bringing them as "lacking standing" to bring the cases. In 2000, BTW nothing childish about bringing that up, right?/sarcasm... In 2000, the US SUPREME Court made a decision regarding the case. If you do not know the difference between the cases, then I can understand why you bring it in. As it stands now, it is a swing and a miss, again.

Well, so much for the original premise of this thread. Once again a good idea has to go by the wayside because a thread was hijacked by other interests.

I would very much appreciate a scource of information about origins of cars, especially older ones. The person shopping for a new one has a scource of limited information available on the window sticker, but the buyer of a used car has no such scource that I know of. It would be helpful in trying to at least get some feel for what repair parts might cost in the future.
