The chief of this department seems to be geniunely interested in the protection of the people he serves. My question is how do I get similiar results when the chief of my small community was involved in the call where the threat was a bullet in the head and a 2 year old child was allowed to go back inside with the perpetraitor of the crime. There was not any mention of the gun, the bullet or the real reason the officers were there, mentioned in the report.

A police officer's worst nightmare is a domestic violence call. He/she cannot win in these cases.

Well another story with alot of questions. As far as this officers background, maybe it was time for him to be booted. Cannot have an officer out there that is going to get himself/herself in trouble. If he cant keep his nose clean then how can he do his job properly. Like I said, Im just going on his write ups with the force.

I might be wrong but I think this case was police officers responding to a domestic disturbance, the officers did not separate the 2 when they arrived on scene, they didn't feel it was serious, and 1 of them got hurt by the other 1 in the presence of the police. I could be wrong though so don't take this as absolute fact :)

Not that there is any direct relation to this particular incident.....

Back in 1992 my family and friends were at "Blocko's" (bar and grill) within the Saugatuck/Douglas "perimeter". Before dinner, I asked the barmaid for change for the cigarette machine. She must have been having a bad day or whatever because she mumbled something about "a**holes" and slammed my change on the counter. Dinner, 2 drinks and soon we were leaving. Decent tip was left 30%(she didn't serve us) and as we were leaving,(I was the last one out the door on crutches, foot in cast) she say's something to the effect of "F***ing glad you're leaving!". I was in the doorway, door open, 3-4 steps high above the ground. I said "Are you talking to me?". Without a word, she body slams (fairly big girl 225lbs.+) me out the door, down the steps. I was unhurt, but naturally upset. After getting me up and to our vehicle, others in my party were about to go and question what her issue was and 3 local cop cars showed up like there had been a robbery. They were there within 2 min.

I explained my side of the situation and the barmaid evidently explained hers. The cops cuffed me and were ready to haul me away... but relented on the premise I never return. Like I would ever patronize that dive again. LOL

Fact: I was not inebriated and she was in a very bad mood. She assaulted me, but I had no recourse as it was her word against mine. "Blocko's" was (as I later learned) a favorite "hangout" for the local fuzz. Saugatuck/Douglas police lost all respect from many that night. As for "Blocko's"... maybe because of the people (police) which called it their "home away from home", the business went under. Cheap (regular clientele) is my best summation. Saugatuck/Douglas cops... I hope attitudes have changed since my experience.

One bad cop leaves a bad taste and leads people to question "if there are others like him/her in the department". 4 bad cops = the whole department is lacking in supervision. Assumption confirmed.

The problem with resort towns is they tend to hire seasonal officers who tend to be fresh from the academy and havn't developed proper people skills. Don't ask me how I know this.

You did nothing to bring this upon you?? The bartender just did'nt like you? I call BS!!!!!!! So how did the court find you? Let me guess... Disorderly? I don't go to saugatuck very quick but what I do know is there police have about 8 bars in downtown saugatuck in walking distance and they must be doing something right because there not in the news alot?? I think it is unfair to use your analogy from 16 years ago? How many of there officers are still there from 16 years ago? Those police officers will put there life on the line as are military people and may risk ever seeing there family again.. Im sure this cop that was fired had it coming but don't bring down the good ones? I would like to thank all police personal for trying there best to keep my family safe..

because its a resort town they keep this kind of stuff out of the news, in the 90's i got beat up by some martail arts guy in a parking lot then the guy, while i am on the ground, pulls a shot gun in my face and his girl friend had to pull him away, filed a report and never heard anything back from the cops
