Oh my gosh, I bet it happened in slow motion and he couldn't get to the child in time. How terribly sad, that poor father will be carrying this with him for the rest of his life. I hope that his family and friends will be able to help him.

How horrible!!!!! The child should NEVER been allowed anywhere near where the father was cutting trees. Why take the risk? Children are so curious they are not going to listen when it comes to something cool like cutting down trees. They don't understand the danger. My kids are the same way. When dad's cutting down a tree, they watch from the window til the tree is down, or mom is right outside with them holding their hand until it is down.
What a tragedy.
you are right no kid should be out there buy were they are cutting trees down . the father should have thought of that . he should have made his son go in the house or play somewere , and yes i have children and thats what i would have done prayers go out to the family

The child had been told to stay in dad's truck and did not obey. He was NOT allowed to be close to the cutting.

Give me a break. A child is dead, don't sit there and be mean to the father. This dad obviously wanted to spend time with his son, and how do you know he didn't do this with his son all the time? The father obviously did not mean for this to happen, and accidents happen all the time. Save your self righteous judgement for something legitimate.
My heart goes out to this family and they will be in my prayers. How very devistating.

Do you know who it was? We have a friend with a 6 year old son that lives right there, but have not talked to them since last week. This guy is a fireman that is a friend of ours.

No, I don't know who it is. I just saw the story on the news last night and that was what they said, that he was told to stay in the truck.

Because that's what good dads do. Our 3 boys help my husband all the time with everything! Tragedy can happen anywhere, but this father was not negligent to bring his son with him.

Oh here come the persecuting grannies.

Those wonderful perfect people who springboard off of every tragedy on the news to show the world how perfect they are and how we all could avoid life's tragic events and evil-doer's iniquities by following their down-home advice... after the fact.

Where would we be without their invaluable tutelage?
