That stretch through there is pretty treacherous. I used to live off of 52nd and Eastern 15 years ago and I got the heck out of there.

Even Rockford has its issues. I live in bible thumpin' Byron Center and it isn't all lily white here. Pete's is a safe bar...good food and you actually get service there...The Byron Hotel sucks....Still miss that coyote ugly bar Stan's in Dorr...that was a totally target rich enviroment! They did have kick a$$ bands from time to time....

I was there and watched it happen. He actually hit the pole right past New Beginnings. He then rolled the car off the cinder-block barricade around their trash cans and continued to roll all the way in front of Avis [ About 200-250 ft.].

I'm guessing the guy was coming from Woody's bar next to Meijer's. An officer on scene said they think he was drunk. Also, that is a bad pic off the wreck because the roof of the car was crumpled to the seats.

But it was okay for the friends to come up to Gods country and then drive home drunk? Rockford is not all that innocent. Whose to say you would have gotton home safely? As long as you are drinking and driving you are NEVER safe. It doesn't distinguish on where you live.

Good call. Rednecks never drink a dirty thirty and then drive their pickup home.

A large portion of the population is dependent on that sh*t and would find away to afford it. Smokers b^tch about every tax increase but they still find the $5-6/ day for their habit. You could safely say that alcohol does more harm than all the other drugs combined, legal and illegal.

He was not being chased by the police. He was a white male about 25-30 years old. Driving a Volks Wagon (good commercial) He did hit everything there east of Division on 54th and was thrown from his car, landing on the curb in front of Avis. No matter if he was drinking or not, NO ONE should be driving this fast. He is lucky if he'll be in Mary Free Bed for 3 months. The End.

Now listen Doc, you just keep your history lesson to yourself and shut your damn mouth. Since when did you become the educated historian on Division Street? How about you go cram one.
Too funny.. With the economy headed down the tubes, and Granholm pushing Michigan to the front of the pack, we are destined to repeat what has taken place in the past. How does that stretch of Division look today? Any better?

But was he being chased? Probably took a wrong turn a couple of miles back and found that he had to flee for his life.

I heard that too! WOOD, please follow up on this. My son helped look for the missing person that night and wants to know if that's true, and if so, where they found him. They looked everywhere for that passenger.

I'd like a follow up too...
My hubby was talking to someone who works up there, and was told it was an 18 year old drunk kid...and he was DRAG RACING with someone else on 54th. The person who works up there says that the 18 year old had his 6 year old little brother in the truck with him.

I hope that there was no little kid involved in all of that...can you imagine how terrifying it would have been??

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Capricorn

You're keen to look on the bright side of things and to ignore anything unpleasant or worrying. That's fine, provided that you're ready to face up to life's difficulties again tomorrow. But it's not such good news if you persist in looking the other way whenever a problem presents itself, especially if it's connected with your work or health. It may be time to face a few facts, Capricorn.
