Lead her country for ten years, elected by a overwhelming majority. Turned the British economy around. Didn't her and Reagan tear down some wall? I would say she helped make the world a better place.

Everyone says that President Reagan was a great president because of his ability to reach across the aisle to get things done. Yet if you listen to the news either back when Maggie was in office, or now in retrospection, her government was highly devisive to a very large part of the British population.

From everything I've seen, if the two were running against each other in the next election cycle, the right wing loons wouldn't have given a second glance at Reagan. Maggie was much more like today's teabaggers than the RINO you elected back in those days.

Maybe you should let loose of that bone. How many times have I pointed out to you with citations the Republicans/Conservatives that have been involved with child sexual abuse and NEVER even got sentenced much less "light sentences". And how about what many consider the most conservative of ALL organizations, the Catholic Church and their L O N G history of child homosexual and sexual abuse? How many of them went to jail? Huh Batch? HOW MANY?
Keep voting for your "useful idiots"..... You have a couple but I don't want them out of prison ever........ You?

I suppose you could argue Reagan caused the fall of the Soviet Union. BUT, he did it by "forcing them" to overspend their economy with his Star Wars Program.

It wasn't so much Communism that took down the Soviet Union as it was Communism turned Totalitarianism.

The Soviet Union was primed to fail before Reagan actually did anything to "cause it". It was an opportunistic opportunity for Reagan. Reagan just threw the final can of gas on an already out-of-control fire.

But Reagan, and Thatcher CAUSING the fall? No.

They refuse to look at the history of Reagan in totality. Reagan raised taxes 11 times. Every time he lowered taxes...on the richest and corporations, we went into recession. Even he came to realize that lowering the taxes did not have the desired, nor proclaimed, increase on the economy.

Yes, Reagan would be looked at as a lefty in today's political climate if he were to be running for office for the first time.

Selective idol worship.

And I wonder on which planet you guys are living on also.

My children also are grown and on their own. Both professional degrees and married to same. My SIL in his more innocent years espoused the same as you guys do. Since then he has come to see the realities above the ideologies.

What are "our" children being taught today? Look around with eyes wide open and the answer is evident for all to see. They are being taught they are the only ones on the planet that matter. That making of the most of THEIR lives is what matters most. The more they can take from the world the better. No matter how anyone else is being affected. That they have an entitlement to make as much as they possibly can without the necessity to contribute back to "the system" that allowed them that opportunity. Being taught not to count their blessings because they are blessings, They are earned entitlements for having "worked hard". They are not being taught there are people who also work very hard for what they are not being recompensed for because those at the management levels get to determine what they are worth and more importantly not worth.

Even my SIL is seeing the corporate world is out-of-control. And he's an attorney specializing in corporate matters. He sees the idiocy and yes even the dangers of the Becks, the Limpjaws, the Hannity's, etc. of this world.

perhaps you should look a little closer. I see lots of young people today who give back a whole lot more than our generation gave back. There are a lot of young parents out there that are refusing to hand the kids money to "go away" and instead are handling the education of their children. They are defending their children from the liberal bullies in the school systems. You, on the other hand, obviously raised yours to be more concerned with making money than providing for those less fortunate. That was a symptom of the 60's....it's mine and it's all mine. yeah, I grew up in that era and seeing my fellow human beings acting the way they do sickens me. It also sickens me that you think a corporate attorney is someone to be admired. But, it doesn't surprise me. Materialistic people rarely realize they are materialistic. so, does your SIL also see the dangers and idiocy of the Ed Schulz, Rachel Maddow, and etc. of the world? Probably not, I'm guessing since seeing both sides of the issue is rare amongst the attorneys.

You sure are quick at making accusations you have no clue about. Just to speak of my SIL and daughter, as you decided to single him out, give away more money per year than you probably make.

You see we raised our kids to realize they are not the only ones that matter. And because parents can only go so far in how their kids turn out I give them all the credit in the world for accepting there are other people that are not as fortunate as they are for what can be no cause of their own.

And talk about prejudices, my SIL has a reputation of being honest and trustworthy. And no client should even think about asking him to do what is not ethical. So I will ask you to keep your mouth shut about these things born only from your personal prejudice. You should know very well what I think about the corporate world, from experience, and should know I would not accept any antics from my family. And they know it well too.

Many years ago when my daughter was in college trying to get her brain washed, she was a raving liberal. After school she got married and had children. Something about working, being married, and experiencing the real world has changed her into a tax paying conservative. I could not be more proud of her. Something that most of the children on here have yet to learn.

No quicker than you are to accuse others of your own prejudices. As for being proud, you should be proud of your children. They sound like upstanding citizens with good heads on their shoulders. And my children know I don't tolerate liars in addition to being fine upstanding citizens. They were taught to think for themselves as well. I wasn't trying to ruin your SIL's reputation as he is the only one who could do that. I was merely commenting on how odd it is that you say he despises the corporate world yet chooses to be a corporate attorney where the money speaks the loudest.

I never said he despises the corporate world. That's what YOU took from it.

He started out believing exactly what you do about corporations and the "rights" of those to make as much money as they can with little regard for anything else. We had many heated arguments where just like you he believed I was this jaded hateful person that viewed it only one way because of my experiences in it. To the point my daughter thought the same way of me. As his personal experience in "the corporate world" grew he came to understand otherwise. As time and experience goes by he sees even more. Though I don't believe and would never ask him to become a "liberal". Though I do see him as a fiscal conservative and social liberal. That people are more important than money. That money is a tool for living, not an objective.

All I have ever been getting at is people have a tendency to believe that whatever works to make life better must be a good thing. That not intending to do "harm" does not mean harm hasn't been done and/or isn't being done. The lack of intention to do any harm isn't as important as intending to do no harm.

It is not "socialistic" to not have so much more than one can actually ever need or ever use while there are those who will have barely enough to survive on simply because it can be done.

I don't believe it's right that because one can, they should. Don't believe because it's legal makes it right.

Well I'm hoping that "the rest of the children on here" don't come to believe that being more educated means being a "liberal" and thereby to be avoided.

The fear of becoming liberal thwarting being more educated does explain a lot tough.
