Yep that ticket I got in 1974 stays with me because what happened according to the cop was a lie but just try to prove it, it was his word against two 17 year old's it changed the way I looked at the whole system of justice how someone who is a law enforcement officer could lie to a judge and of course in court you just cant stand up and call someone a liar. We even had a public defender tell us to plead guilty he is now a judge, Dennis Lieber. Some things you just don't forget the system is rigged.
Just goes to prove there are still instances where you are guilty until you can prove innocence is considered the acceptable norm.

Most police departments today, GRPD included, are used for revenue generation. This is rampant. Chicken-chit traffic tickets, even questionable arrests, abound.

Thanks. There's a lesson for all of us here: it's not good being bitter toward the police, and certainly an entire city, simply because 40+ years ago you got a ticket for running a red light.
running a red light is one thing. Rolling thru one after not coming to a complete stop, getting stopped by the police, who were hiding behind a nearby sign, and issued a ticket that will cost $135+, 3-points on the driver's record, and higher insurance premiums, is another. Don't say this doesn't happen because if you do, you're a liar. This kind of thievery by the city and the police is criminal.

We were at the Mackinac County Courthouse and few years back and overheard a couple of Sheriff Deputies complaining with a clerk [on] how they so were displeased with one officer not ticketing enough people. Saying how were they going to be able to afford the office equipment and supplies etc. if officers weren't going to ticket enough people.
Yes in some cases it's all about revenue gathering.

Down south it is absolutely rampant. Especially with out-of-staters that aren't going to stick around to fight them. Even if they could afford to time and money wise.

Rolling through a red light after not coming to a complete stop is a traffic violation. What makes you people think laws don't pertain to you?

Maybe you guys need to look into this:

Oh I know. I have seen many GRPD officers breaking the law too. Hardly any of them wear their seatbelts.

It was just relating one instance many years ago Sassy to relate how police officers can and do break the law that's been intentionally distorted by the agitators for their personal thrills.

Don't you know by know that progressives think that they only have to obey the laws that they agree with? They'll do illegal drugs because they think they should be legal, fail to report inappropriate sexual relationships between minors and their peers because they think they should be legal, and ignore traffic laws because they think they're stupid.
Bet all these useful idiots whining about getting tickets are just a bunch of aging hippies clinging to their sex and drugs and still trying to 'stick it to the man'. lol

What a complete dip-sh$t you are. Here's to hoping you're stopped for a minor violation and ticketed. You'll be chirping a different tune.

And most of them believe they are above the law. Traffic laws, including DWI, and all the rest apply to others but not them.

Like the State Police officer assigned to drive the governor having been stopped and ticketed several time for DUI but never losing his license much less being prosecuted....

I have never seen the law that prohibits inappropriate sexual relationships between minors and their peers. Between those of the age of consent, 16 and over, with a minor yes. The age of consent for sexual behavior in MI is 16yoa.

And oh please spare me about the use of illegal drugs by only "progressives". The difference between progressives and conservatives using "illegal drugs" is the "progressives" are calling for the repeal of marijuana being illegal while the conservatives don't want it changed at the same time they are using all the same illegal drugs behind the garage.

I've gotten two tickets, both for speeding, and deserved what I got. The only chirping going on around here, not to mention dip-sh$t attitudes, is from a bunch of whiney entitlement babies who think they should for some reason be able to get away with breaking laws the rest of us cannot. A "minor" violation is still a violation, and if the cop gives you a ticket it's because you deserved it.

If you think some idiot with a faggy name typing up another dull insult is somehow going to make a difference in that you're as stupid as the people who think they should be allowed to "roll through" yellow lights whenever the hell they please.

What exactly is "contitutes"?

Stands to reason entitlement babies are those that feel they're entitled to break traffic laws because of their particular circumstances, whatever those may be that make them feel impervious to obeying laws the rest of us have to - and because they got the tickets they rightly deserved they've taken to whining about it, in some cases for over 40 years!

And as far as a "faggy name" I think that question was answered by the poster I was addressing.

Personal freedoms do not include immunity from being ticketed for committing traffic violations. Driving is a privilege, not a right.

Equating someone who defends Americans' constitutional rights to someone who's against all law and order is childish and argumentative. Did you ever hear me say the government has no purpose or responsibility whatsoever in our society? No, you didn't. If you have to exaggerate to make a point, SIB, it's probably a weak point to begin with.

I'm hardly adverse to a cop ticketing people like yourself who commit traffic violations, despite how much you think you should be able to get away with that. In fact, I monetarily support our police force so that they can continue to enforce the law. Unlike you scofflaws, I appreciate seeing cops patrolling our streets and holding reckless drivers like yourself accountable.

Well said!

SIB should be glad that they didnt kill anyone, while running all of those traffic lights instead of continuing to whine about getting tickets for their wreckless driving!
I suppose that even if that happened, and they killed someone, that they'd still be whining about the ticket, instead of being remorsefull for the damage that they csused, or lives that were lost.
