My experience with GR cops has always been positive vs. some of the other small town cops/sherriffs I have dealt with.

GR cops have real problems to deal with---drugs, gangs, ect... I passed cops going 15 mph over before and not even gotten a glance.

Did you even read what I wrote jackwad? I clearly stated the light turned yellow as I entered the intersection. According to the LAW going through a yellow light, when there is not room to stop before it turns red is not an infraction. AND stupid I said the cop acknowledged the light was yellow and wrote the ticket as running a red light and the light was red before reaching the intersection.
If I had stopped when the light turned yellow I would have been IN the intersection and gotten ticketed for obstruction of traffic.
Why do you enjoy being so patently stupid?
You got a ticket for running a red light, get over it. No reason to get your color up with me. You're not entitled to break the law any more than anyone else is.

By the way, there isn't anything more stupid than holding a 40+ year old grudge for a ticket that you clearly deserved. I can just hear you getting all sassy and head-waggily with a cop about just how far you were under a red light when you crossed it.

If your attitude was anything like it is on this site it's a pretty safe bet that had more to do with you getting a ticket slapped across your gigantic whine-hole than some stupid red/light yellow light excuse making.

I wish I knew the cop that ticketed you - I'd shake his hand. If nothing else it keeps your angry, red light-running arse off the streets of Grand Rapids proper!

Pfft...like you sleep at night anyway. Everybody knows that's when a ho like you is out working the streets. Speaking of streets, better be careful crossing them; you never know when karma is going to catch up with you.

That's what everyone who gets caught running a red light says. Tell it to the judge.

I truly believe that it is up to the digression of the officer who he decides to pull anyone over. He sees something that he perceives is some minor infraction or really nothing at all and you get stuck because you cant argue with him or the next thing you know you have a .40 caliber pointed at you.

I got a ticket in 1979 at the corner of S Division and Fulton along with a buddy we were accused of drag racing it was not true we tried to fight it, it was our word, two scruffy 18 year old's against a cop who thought he saw something that never happened . So not every ticket is justified but they love to take your money

Many traffic stops, over minor infractions...is because the officer may have more suspicions, but need's reasonable grounds to further investigate.....

The point is if you run a red light, like SIB, it doesn't matter whether the cop is a prick or not. You break the law and you should expect to get a ticket.

A few years ago a young girl was heading home from a job she just started. It was late at night and there were very few cars on the road. She approached an intersection and the light turned green. She began to turn right when a car driven by a group of young boys ran a red light at excessive speeds, flew over a set of railroad tracks and smashed into the side of the girl's car with such impact that it drove her crushed body out of the other side of the car.

I'm reminded of this several times a week because that girl's family to this day, with a great deal of attention, maintains a small memorial at the corner where she died. I always think that if some "prick" cop had just been positioned further up the road he or she might have stopped those boys' car before it ended the life of an innocent person and caused what is clearly a lifetime of grief for her family.

So, go ahead and pretend you're so victimized, SIB, and that a ticket 40+ years ago for running what you claim was a yellow light was just such a horrible breach of justice by a corrupt police force that you can't even stand to enter the city limits.

It's all hogwash when you view it from the perspective of what it is these cops are charged with preventing. After all, who knows how many people that cop had to see mangled because someone felt yellow lights don't pertain to their own entitlement-mentality.

I say this just one more time to you ignoramus. In accordance with the law I had not run a red light. That's the LAW. Look it up. Oh, that's right, you don't look up anything. You depend on others to prove to you so you can bitch at them for it being just their opinion or that of some subversive source, in your opinion.

But then as you have proven the law means nothing you. It's the discretion of the enforcers that means everything to you. And yes police officers have complete discretion and it's up to the "violator" prove otherwise in a court.

And I should add for the emotionally unhinged, for the example of the young girl. When the light turned yellow as I entered the intersection that meant the light was still red for the lateral traffic.

You have no capacity for critical thinking Oneal and that's what makes you such an idiot.

And one more thing. Having been in a collision when someone ran a red light, actually jumping the light from a complete stop, hitting us broad side AND my father being killed by a drunk driver and my mother not being expected to make it by the hospital, in an unrelated collision, I am more than aware of the dangers of bad drivers.

And to think, after that, you still continue to run red lights at a fiendish pace. tsk tsk ...

I think it bears repeating in your case: Just because you think you're privileged does not mean that traffic lights don't apply to you, SIB. Officer Ned says, "yellow light = red light in sight. Red light = Stop with all your might".

If you just remember that little ditty you might avoid those nasty citations in the future.

And yet you continue to defend risky driving behavior. I guess it's true that misery loves company. Why else would you defend behavior that leads to people being injured and killed?

One would think that if she'd truly "seen it before" she'd be more cautious of her driving habits. Some people never learn I guess. That or she thinks laws are for other people and they don't pertain to her entitled self.

One thing is certain, when I'm outside the Grand Rapids city limits I'm going to check right and left before I proceed through any intersection. Who knows that an angry SIB might just be barreling through another red light!
