It was never a free speech issue, it was a zoning one.
Now I'm going to buy a 50 ft semi trailer and some property in Gaines township and write "Christianity Is a Lie and Jesus Never Lived" on it and make it so everyone has to see it from the highway.
This decision has set a precedent and I hope they understand the can of worms they've opened up. Zoning laws be damned!
And the zoning that Gaines used was discriminatory. Go for it Stevie, you big hypocritical baby. Wah wah wah.

<quoted text>However, not the way you anticipated. Gaines Township lost because they were discriminating against someone who disagreed with them. Sorry, it was a free speech issue and free speech won, again.
You apparently can't read or your comprehension skills have been lost in your zeal to turn everything into a political issue.

Instead, it focused on the signs' size and efforts to understand the township's ordinance."

The judge stated that the ordinance was unconstitutional because it was discriminatory. He also stated that the farmer could buy the trailers and place them on HIS PRIVATE PROPERTY. Whatever, Wiggley, you choose to argue and insult, yet again. The point is, the farmer won.

At least your atheist message would be more honest than those ridiculous billboards you slapped up trying to convince people how nice you are.

The farmer won, but the landscape lost.

Just like I wish we could reduce the amount of obnoxious billboards all over the highways, I don't want to see every amateur Tom Dick and Harry's hand-painted opinions in everyone's back 40.

I agree with the farmer's message, but no matter what it says it's an eyesore. If it were in my neighborhood I'd want it removed too.

It is impossible to argue with a person the sees words in an article that aren't there. Even though the word Discrimination never shows up in the linked article, you will never get Edna to read it without seeing what she wants it to say.

That farm has been in the Verduin family for years...long before M-6 was built right through the middle of it. Those semi trailers sitting on the exact same spots 10 years ago would not have been visible to anyone except the livestock.

I wonder if those were old Steelcase or Spartan trailers would we be having this discussion?
I think not.

I'd dare bet his point was that you can't seem to distinguish the difference between discrimination and unconstitutional.
The ordinance was ruled officially as unconstitutional...period. It was poorly written and worded, no more, no less.
You want so badly to interject your "freedom of speech" theory but it just does not fit.

Here's an example...read the whole article and take note that the guy took the freedom of speech and selective enforcement (discrimination) arguement all the way to the Supreme Court...and lost.
http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/03/27/17...

Take note that he also put up the sign without first securing a permit. Again, this is not discrimination. There are reasons for codes and ordinances and the required permits.

Your point is well taken and you are correct on several points. However, please note that Mr. Verduin himself said that the free speech rights were protected and he is thinking of putting another sign up. And also note that the trailers are on his private property and they are his property. As for Stevie, his points become mute for me when he uses his "style" such as it is.

My only point was how nice it is that you never post negative attacks on people......

Now, would you care to show where the word discrimination shows up in the linked article, or are you just a warped old c**t?

That was a great game! I didn't think they were going to win when they missed all their free throws.

I was secretly hoping that Wichita would win, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Monday's game should be a great game since both team seem to be on a mission.

Me too, but it was selfish in that, i thought Wichita State would be an easier opponent, if UM won their game...lol...sports logic....
