Go back to your basement and light up another doob, stevie. You needn't try and correct your inane posts. SIB can handle her own opinions without some ignorant troll trying to ride her coattails.
I believe SIB was correct on this one, and I didn't take it as another of her anti-business rants at all. Walker blew it, plain and simple.
I haven't been out to Cabelas yet, but I'm sure it's going to bring some serious business to the area. Other such Cabelas locations have actually built profitable hotels around the store in order to handle those that travel just to experience it. It's like a retail amusement park! Any city would benefit from it's being there and Walker was short-sighted.

Your correct, I don't think anything went in out there. Certainly not any jobs, good thing walker dodged that bullet. Imagine if they would have had to deal with people with jobs investing in the economy in Walker.
News flash for ya Chipmunk. People in walker have cars. And it's not that far to drive to a job. There are people who commute farther than that every day.

And that's exactly like you would act...if you could even get a job there.

They sell weapons there and quite a few shoot chipmunks just for target practice.

Chipmunk and Oneal can shoot themselves in the mouth. Maybe that will shut them up.

Walker BLEW NOTHING! Read it and find out. That is if the possibility is there to understand what they read.

Like I've said before, I didn't know how the deal went down that Cabelas ended up in Grandville. Now I do.

Maybe you should read what you linked.

"Walker will miss out on the lucrative tax collections. They stood to collect $1 million annually from the Orchard Park development."

Sounds like they blew $1 million annually.

It's usually the goal of the government to keep jobs in the area in which they control. Clearly this common sense hasn't dawned on you.

Looks like you have never spent much time in the Gander store in Grandville, otherwise you would have understood the comment. I have a job and Gander couldn't afford my salary.

Bad news for you as well, Gander won't hire someone who puts bitter old man as prior job.

I'm not the one that needs to learn how to read. Walker lost out on the $1million. They didn't blow it.

You have no basis to be commenting on business in any fashion as you have no understanding how they make the decisions they do. Had you been able to understand the context of the article you would have understood that.

So all this time you've been blustering about how government should stay out of the way of business was just hot air.

What you are actually saying is government should be the instrument of business activity. Usually that's known to be fascism.

ANYBODY informing you of how wrong your are you label as a bitter old person.

It must be for some reason you are getting paid because it sure isn't because of your intellect.

So, according to your link, the Walker plan "died on the drawing board" and Grandville pitched a smarter plan to entice the store to their area, while Walker lost out on jobs and "lucrative" tax collections ... and you somehow surmise from this Walker didn't blow it.

Gotcha.(rolls eyes)

Gotcha.(rolls eyes)
You wouldn't such an idiot if you were spending your time reading rather than rolling your eyes.
"“They started looking at being in the established retail corridors as a way to expand, as opposed to being at a remote intersection on the expressway,” said Scott Wierda of CWD Real Estate Investment of Grand Rapids, a partnership between Weirda, Dan DeVos and Sam Cummings.

“They wanted to be near a mall and other strong retailers,” he said."
The Walker location DID NOT offer that.

"Cabela’s had lined up about $40 million in tax breaks for that project. Wierda said there are no tax breaks tied to the Cabela’s project, although the cost of the X-Rite demolition and some other site work by CWD will be reimbursed by future tax revenues through a Brownfield redevelopment deal with Grandville."

"The way CWD landed Cabela’s is also very different than how developers went about the Walker project. Instead of teasing officials with the possibility of a Cabela’s, CDW played their cards close to the vest with the city of Grandville, seeking permissions to tweak site plans without telling officials which national chain they were reeling into the site.

“It happened really fast, actually,” said Randal Gelderloos, a trustee on the city council, who did not find out which tenant CWD was after until just a few weeks ago. Wierda said the Grandville deal had been in the works for about four to six months."

You really have no business commenting on things you just can't fathom over your personal prejudices. Until you learn to do otherwise you're just one more right-wing business is our god idiot.

I read the article, SIB, the first time around - and comprehended every word. You simply glazed over the part that didn't fit your desired template, the passage I cited previously that defines how Walker blew it and what they lost out on.

I guess that's an all too common trait of liberals - only acknowledging that which perpetuates their narrow vision.

Yes, often facts, truth and common sense do tend to convince me.

I know that lacks the comfortable template-style logic used by liberals, where often when felled by reality they're left muttering, "well the facts were wrong, but the narrative was right...", and they just go on thinking whatever they've been told to think.

Maybe Walker will get a 'Frosty Whip' Ice Cream stand instead of that stupid ol' Cabelas. I mean, since we're all sweltering so badly from all this manmade global warming that should be a real boon for the community!
