When I was 18, I worked for an Engine shop that specialized in muscle cars. I detailed engine compartments, disassembled motors, ran engine blocks through the jet washer and bead blaster, etc.

Some of the cars we worked on:

54 Mercedes
72 Grand Prix
72 Riviera
70 Vette
Studebaker Avanti
54 Pontiac Chieftan
Ford Van Monster Truck

Way better than mine. Let's see in my life I have babysat, been a daycare attendant, pizza shop girl, pizza shop manager, juvenile court intern, career services sales person, and then the job I have now.

To be honest the career I'm in now is probably the coolest job I've ever had. The pizza place wasn't too bad though, I had a lot of fun doing that.

Chad - that is awesome. I have always thought seeing if I could work a part time job at place like that to get more hands on experience. Most of my knowledge comes from my own tinkering, research and watching Horsepower TV LOL.

My most fun job was working at a golf course thru high school. I basically got paid to drive golf carts and got free golf.

Worked at Butterworth AeroMed in communications with incoming and out-going flights and working Med-Com which monitors and directs EMS services thru Kent County. I was a door-gunner/medic on a "D" model Heuy during the Vietnam era so was right up my alley

How's this for cool. It was downright cold...freezing cold.
Worked at the old ice manufacturing plant on Market St. one summer, 1966, when I was going to college. Charlies Crab is there now.
Got $2 an hour for dragging 400 lb blocks of ice onto trucks. They slid on the floor good once you got them going.

Taking care of handicapped children. They are the coolest! They probably taught me more than anything I could have learned elsewhere!! Especially the ones with TBI (traumatic brain injury). They have big hearts!! They are brave & have a strong will to live, even in their situation. Their smiles are like sunshine on a cloudy day!!

Babysitting my own 4 grandkids and getting paid by the State of Michigan. However, SOM changed their stupid computer system and it bonked me out of their system. But my daughter has them in State run day care now, so oh well, maybe again some time.
