I happen to know the dispatcher who helped this couple. I think its wonderful to be able to help someone out over the phone even, to deliver a baby. And to everyone bippin about not knowing about being pregnant, it can happen. Many women still cycle, some are erratic and then you could be like I was and never feel your baby move or kick. I delivered my son 6 weeks early and he weighed just over 3 lbs. but I never felt him move. Just remember, we are all different and not everyone, especially women, have our own unique ways. Congrats to the new parents and way to go Dispatcher!!!!

Great story... but I'm still haveing a hard time getting past the line that says they didn't know she was pregnant! A baby that's big enough to decide to come out has to have moved... who of us(women) here has never had a foot in the ribcage?? That's a pretty noticeable symptom!!
As a mother of 4...I did not know I was pregnant the 4th time. I lost weight (was a size 8 to begin with), was regular with monthly periods, and get this... she never moved until the day I went into labor. I never had any symptoms at all except for heart burn.... All ended well.. she was 8 weeks early born at 4 lbs, 8 oz. Believe it or not... it does happen

There is no way a woman can not tell she is pregnant or at least that her body has undergone some major changes. Woman can claim they did not know, but beyond the fourth month I do not buy it. Denial is more like it. Even if you are very heavy, the proportions of your body still change dramatically. Might be more difficult for someone else to know, but the mother would.

Putting aside the ridiculous claim of not knowing, I'm happy for the couple and that the baby is fine.

I was told I could never have children, I had irregular periods, in fact I bled through entire pregnancy and had never been around a pregnant woman long enough to learn and did not have morning sickness. I actually thought the fluttering I was feeling was my intestines just rumbling. I only gained 6 pounds total. I was 7 months along when I found out and only because I was getting ready to schedule a hysterectomy, to stop bleeding. SURPRISE I was 30 years old and I have one terrific child 22 yrs old

I'm SO sick of people finding this to b*tch about. You're talking about the lead-in tagline which says GRAND RAPIDS -.. right ? That's where the story is being reported from. It was being reported from Grand Rapids, so even though it was ABOUT something in Montcalm County, the reporting occured in Grand Rapids. So, if they'd be at the people's house in Pierson, the tagline would have been Pierson. If a reporter is in Hong Kong talking about something happening on mainland China, they still have a tagline of Hong Kong. Why do people criticize something they obviously don't know anything about ??
And as a side comment, TLC is having a special on women who didn't know they were pregnant... I think it's going to be on... Tuesday night ?
So why is it that the GR Press doesn't start all the articles its reporters write from GR with "Grand Rapids"? And if it's something you're "so sick" of, you might need a hobby. I was pointing out that WOOD isn't know for its online accuracy (i.e.: April 32, a hospital that doesn't exist - although I see that has been corrected). I don't think there is lead-in consistency. Either start the ones reported from GR with GR, or don't.

As for calling someone stupid, I wouldn't speak before you have all the facts...

I had a friend that was told she could never get pregnant & she was over 6 ft tall & slender but big boned. She also did not look pregnant the whole time. The Dr. told her that some babies get comfy when a woman has a great pelvis like hers & don't kick. She was 39 yrs. old & they'd been married for 12 years!!!!! He was born a month early but was healthy enough to go home when she did.
Just ignore the ignorant posters. They can't help it if they're clueless. Obviously they're too busy bashing to check anything they say out. They're the ones that end up looking like fools. No matter what they say, it won't change the truth cause the truth wins in the end!!!
To the parents; How blessed to have the dispatcher there for you. God's blessing you!!!

Many years ago my mother got a phone call from her brother with the news they were going to have a baby. Mom said asked when and he said in a couple of weeks. My aunt had no idea she was having a baby. It turned out to be her only child. When she asked her doctor at the time about all those little symptoms that we feel when there is a baby growing inside us, her doctor told her it was just nerves. Yeah, talk about nerves. She just about had a nervous breakdown after the shock of having a baby without the nine months of mental preparation. The real kicker is that she continued to see this nut case after this.

OK this situation I can see if it was your first preg. I know the bleading issues and it does toss your hormons all over the place and can really effect many other things. YOu would not have been able to know the changes where due to anything else but the bleading. I still wounder - did they not do an ultra sound? or a biopsy? The Doctors would be able to tell from either one of these test. It is amazing your child was fine.

Happy Birthday!!!

Who cares what other people think? People criticizing this couple have nothing better to do than bash others to make themselves look superior.

The reality is that a baby is born. Congratulations to Mom, Dad, Grandma, Uncle and the whole family.

he and his 27-year-old wife had recently quit smoking and thought her recent weight gain was related to that.

OK, c'mon folks, SERIOUSLY...there is a difference between "normal" weight gain, and pregnancy weight gain; Unless this woman already weighed 300 pounds in which a pregnancy weight gain MIGHT be mistaken, there is no way to mistake the difference in weight gains
