Some just can't accept any good news. So the numbers aren't to the levels that they were before, but yet they are improving. Just heard on the news tonight that GM, Ford, and Chrysler had a great quarter but Volkswagon and Toyota sales were sluggish.

I would hope so, we only spent a fortune and our kids children's future on that slight improvement. Ya, ya here comes inflation!!

Yes, on NBC Nightly News, they stated GM, Ford and Chrysler all had double-digit sales increases.....guess that many don't get that channel....lol....Hard to imagine Toyota and Volkswagen down, especially with the very good commercial campaign, currently.....Honda was also way up, i find them better designers than Toyota, more consistant......

The faithful only needs to wait until the obstructionists in the House drag us over the edge during the next debt ceiling negotiations.....

Like they ever plan to negotiate!

Sad that the GOP doesn't seem to understand that the majority of Americans are not only, very aware of their obstruction, but just how much longterm damage it does to the brand......likely the end, for much of what's left of the tea party.....Imagine how small you would have to be...to still ignore the recovery and say crap, like the automaker's are hurting?....geez....

27 points puts it over the 15K mark......

Of course not everything is looking so rosy. Gold saw a substantial correction in it's inflated value. I guess the only thing left to do is to use all your money to buy food insurance!

I'm a bit heavy in one stock, that has done very well.....up $3 per share just lately, and know others that have made a boatload in this market....Gold is one of those scare/buys that many of these pseudo-products, like reverse mortgages.....financial items sold on these neaux channels, after they have scared the people to death...lol...

That is good news!
This guy at work put his house up for sale, and it sold in one day for full asking price.
That is good, now he is having to rush into buying another house soon, because his was sold so fast!
Must be Bush's fault?

Labels again, Blue? Shame on you. And the "master's" remark? You certainly resemble that one since you parrot the Obama talking points on a daily basis. Not bitter, not angry, not sniping, just observing you.

I think Edna might be somewhat correct in that the label doesn't really fit the West Michigan patriot crowd. I am leaning towards the D&GOP.......

The Dr. Dread crowd ... I love it when the white trash get all angry, frustrated and jealous and go around making stuff up, stomping their big feet, making noise, clapping, barking and howling at the moon.

Their image just makes me smile :-) peace

Then you definitely need to keep your opinions to yourself.

As I recall, this area is a red area, not blue.
http://www.politico.com/2012-election/map/#/P...

The topic has to do with the overall US economy, not just GR. It's great that things are picking up here, but how are housing prices doing in "Blue" Detroit?

Unemployment is 1/2 the US rate in North Dakota (RED - 3.3%) versus say California (BLUE - 9.4%). The topic is aboutt the whole country.

So go back to the actual topic. Under Bush the labor participation rate averaged 66.2%. Under Obama is has averaged 64.4%. It dropped below 64% in January of last year and has been at 63.3%(a rate we haven't seen since 1979) for the past two months.

Do you think we will ever get back to the 66%+ rate we had from 1988-2008, or do folks need to adjust to the numbers of today and deal with an ok unemployment rate of 7.5% because we've reduced the denominator in the calculation?

You do know, my blue isn't about politics, eh?.....As to the new normal, economically speaking...the opening up our goods to all the market's and knocking down all the trade barriers, is largely responsible for much of the outsourcing of many of the well paying type...along with corporate greed.....BTW, i have seen news segments on Detroit's slow resurgance as a manufacturing hub....it was said, that anyone starting up new manufacturing in this country, should take a long look at Detroit....great transportation hub, pre-existing empty factories and physical plants and an already trained manufacturing workforce available....Make's some sense, when you think about it..........

Yep, unsafe facilities on toxic ground that will have to be tore down. The toxic ground won't meet today's EPA standards and will have to be hauled away. High taxes, high crime and of course high vandalism. Yes you are showing your usual intelligence.
