As a former employee of the Shiraz Grill, I would NOT recommend anyone eat there since the head chef there asked me to mix & grind up old, rotten, spoiling meat with fresh beef. DISGUSTING!!!

As the acting chef at shiraz grille i can attest that this never happened. Adam is a disgruntled ex employee that has resorted to online slander to make his revenge. If this problem persists he will be contacted by our legal counsel.

I would be more than happy & glad to testify under oath AND take a lie detector/polygraph test that Chef Ben McCoy is actually the one who instructed me to mix & grind up old, rotten, spoiling meat with fresh beef.

And as far as being disgruntled, that is an absolute joke & far from the truth since I was VERY HAPPY & EXTREMELY RELIEVED to be let go from The Shiraz Grille after the meat grinding incident!:)

Oh, and one more thing, Mr. McCoy...let's not forget you violated federal tax laws by paying me under the table too so don't even think about bringing any legal action against me ;)

Even dog poo probably tastes good with enough curry and beans.

We were getting ready to go to pick up our kids from Kalamazoo to take to Shiraz restaurant today, as soon as read the comment about unusual activities in the kitchen , we changed our mind to go some place else, I don't know Adam is telling truth or not but he wants to take his claim under oath. Unforetunately I had bad experience with another persian restaurant, I got so sick I had to cut alot of my activities in my vacation. I hope all restaurant owners including persian owners to pay attention to this important issue, many people would remember the unforetunate death or close to death of several people with possible Hepatatis, several years ago.

Shiraz is subject to health inspections, same as any other place that serves food. If what this person claims is true it's highly unlikely it would slip by an inspection. If his claims are accurate, there are proper actions that he can AND SHOULD take - none of which include posting potentially damaging rumors on a public forum.

I'm still steamed the Beaners closed and left this particular location.

If anyone watches Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsay, you can see any restaurant can slip by health inspections. Besides, health inspections arent carried out on a daily or weekly or sometimes even monthly basis at the same place

I have no idea what a television show says about it, but my wife owns a place that serves food and I can tell you the inspectors do a very sufficient job, at least those in the Grand Rapids area. Their inspections are performed unscheduled on purpose and can take place at any time - you never know.
I'm not saying this Shiraz is compliant or not - I don't know either way. But before people start boycotting a place of business as a result of an ex-employee's rumors they should consider all sides, don't you think?

I eat at shiraz restaurant at least once every two weeks, and have had a wide variety of their menu choices(of which the lamb shank is my personal favorite). I have had conversations with both the chef and the owner and I believe they are doing a great job spreading a little known culture to west michigan. Whoever this Adam person is sounds a bit "disgruntled" to me after reading his last posts.

My wife and I visited the restaruant on 2-20-10 and were seated by the bartender after a short wait. After 23 minutes of waiting at the table with no contact of anysort with the wait staff not even a greeting or water, we departed.

The lack of service is pathetic. I will not spend a cent at this restaurant in the future, and make sure friends and family avoid this place as well.

I typed in Shiraz Grille to see the reviews and check how things are going. It upsets me to see an ignorant ex-employee or pseudo-employee (not being paid and all) try and slander a fine restaurant. I can assure everyone that anything that happens in the kitchen is above code and standards. The head Chef in Ben McCoy and the owner Ali take great pride in the food. There is no doubt problems that exist within the restaurant that stem from a rookie owner, like the service. However, the food is prepared perfectly and there is no need to worry. Any infidel like the one on here trying to smear is in for a rude awakening when he meets someone like me who left the restaurant due to valid complaints and never took out some childish small-locker-room-showing-frus tration on a forum. Yes, that is a warning. Thanks though, hope coney island kitchens work out for you. I'll check back ever so often if anyone has any questions that I could help out with. The concept of the restaurant is excellent and as long as the owner finds someone to deal with his micro-managing and he takes a step back, the place should thrive. The bar here is amazing (my doing); food choices are very diverse; lastly, it is comfortable and you feel very relaxed with the decor. Have fun dining.

We ate at Shiraz this evening. The place is tastefully decorated, the food was delicious and served beautifully and promptly. Each dish was seasoned perfectly. The diner who used the restroom mentioned that it was nicely decorated and immaculate. We're just glad it's in the neighborhood and we can go there often. I wish it were open for lunch.
