The only thing I'm not ready for are all the idiots behind the wheel. They live in Michigan all their lives, yet when the first snow comes, all of a sudden they forget how to drive. SLOW DOWN a little. So it takes a few minutes longer to get where you are going, is that so bad?

I agree with you, but I go the other way with the SLOW drivers. If you are THAT nervous about driving in these conditions, call into work and give yourself a two hour delay rather than create a hazard. That way, by the time you are ready to "white knuckle" it into work, the salt shakers and plows have made conditions better.
As for me, I started an hour early, stopped for two coffees, put my domestic gas guzzler in 4wd and never had a problem.
I love Michigan in the winter time!

I hear ya, Dan. The ones that irritate me are the ones who drive SUVs, but think they're in a tank! I passed four accidents this morning - three involved SUVs. Surprise, surprise.

I agree!!! And PLEASE just because I drive an SUV do NOT expect me to drive the speed limit on snowy/slick roads....4 x 4 does you no good when it comes to stopping on ice. So do me a favor and GET OFF MY TAIL!!!!!

I don't understand why people here in Michigan drive so slow when it rains and it is only slightly slippery with the wet roads, but when it snows and the roads are covered with ice they drive speed limit or even faster. Just this morning some idiot was right under the back end of my truck because I was driving slower since it was slippery out, but by all means because I drive a 4 wheel drive truck I should be doing 70 to not slow this moron down.

I love the snow!!! Snowmobling, walking in the woods, watching my dogs become covered in snow as they play outside. Winter is AWESOME. I want to learn to x-country ski this year. I say embrace winter! MI is a winter wonderland! I can't imagine living someplace like FL where they don't have a real winter.

The cold gets to me after a while, but I love to sit and watch the big snow flakes fall at night and how a new snow looks on the ground before my dog goes out and has a hayday.

My dog acts like a big beached land tuna in the snow, then jumps up and looks at me (through the window) like I should be out there joining him...

But you're right about the beauty of a "new" snow.

I can't stand when people in trucks ride the middle and think the cars should be the one to get over. If you can't drive on your own side stay of the road, because I will not be getting over.

I drive from N.Muskegon to SE GR every day and the idiots that I have seen is unbelievable! Especially lately, is it something in the water? I'm in the "passing" lane, where by the way, you are supposed to be "passing". So I'm in the passing lane, going 80 behind a line of cars. I do not tail gate, it's rude and very dangerous. but going 80 behind several cars, I'll have the car behind me so close to me that I can't see the headlights or the hood of the car! I mean what is up with that? I can't get over, I'm passing cars in the right lane. And then before I can get over when I have a chance, going 80MPH, the car that's on my A*@ will pass me on the right and then cut so close in front of me, and then slam on the brakes and slow down to 60. PSYCHO is all I can think of this person behind the wheel. All I want to do is get away from that person! And then I see them go on the down the road and continue doing that to everyone! What is wrong with some drivers? If you have an emergency that you need to get to, put on your flashers. If you're late for work, call in, and get up on time tomorrow. These people don't understand that by tailgating, THEY will get the Ticket, and they WILL BE INJURED more than the person in front of them, and they will have the lawsuit against them and lose everything in their life, if not their own life, or live with the fact that their "bad day" killed someone else's wife, husband, mother, father, sister or brother, son or daughter.
