Does anyone know if I need to use the same MARVIN PIN number that I used previously. It has been 8+ years since my last (only) unemployement claim, and I don't remember what my PIN was from that time.
Any help is apprciated.
THe PIN is probably the same. Call the UI Help Center (Google Michigan Unemployment Insurance) and the help line number will be located there. They should be able to help you reset your pin to a new number that you can use now.

If you don't get through right away, keep calling as long as you can stand pressing the redial function on your phone. You will get through if you are determined.

Actually you can use the site. After you fill out OR confirm your information, the system gives you a temporary password that is good for ten days so you can use the system immediately. It should have been included in the info when it told you about the password being sent in the mail in the next two weeks.
information is updated i think once a week on your acct.

What is the exact website or method you used to access MARVIN online? I looked for quite some time and could not find where to go to report.
go to UIA website and scroll down to online services and click on it

Change your distribution method to direct deposit into your bank account. This CAN be done online, and I have been receiving my benefit this way for months. It works very nicely.

CHECKS? you don't get checks anymore. you get a stupid debit card from chase bank that you have to keep until it expires like a regular bank card. if you want to get cash from it you have to either use an atm, or go to the bank and PAY A FEE to withdraw the money using a bank teller. and if you use the atm, you can't always get the exact $ amount on the card, so you either pay a fee and go in the bank or use it at a store or lose your $.

Candice - You don't get a half day every two weeks. You get one hour on your assigned date based on their schedule which is determined by your last 3 digits of your social security number. If you miss that day, Thursday and Friday are open reporting gays on the phone system. You can call anytime during the hours of MARVIN operation and make your report. You are NOT locked into one time peroid every two weeks.
Resident - You have THREE choices for receiving your unemployment benefits. You can use the debit card method, you can still get a physical check OR you can have te funds direct deposited ino your checking account. ou ca chnge this optionoline usng the links provided by other articles posted on WOODV 8's website.
auntnana - THe Fedral overnment passed an extension plafor unemployment benefits. There are plenty of funds available for states that qualify. Michigan is one of the states to benefit from that package. Two extensions were included. The current one now in effect is for an additional 20 week extension followed by and additional extension of 13 weeks at the end of this current extension. The new relief package that will be signed into law when Obama comes into office is also supposed to incude yet another unemployment benefits extension. There has been no information released on how long this additional package would cover.
Ellen - If you mix up your week, you should still call in and report normally according to information on the website. If you do miss a week, you'll have to have a justifiable reason for missing the call. If you simply forgot that may not be good enough, which is why I keep a calendar next to my computer with the dates clearly marked on it so I don't miss a week.
I filed online for unemployment and was never taken to any field that gave me a choice as to whether I wanted a debit card or direct deposit. When Do I tell UIA I want direct deposit and how do I go about doing it? I'm new to this. Help! I tried to call the toll free # all day and all circuits were continually busy. I received a monetary determination in the mail two days after filing but there was nothing in that paperwork about a debit card or direct deposit. How do I find answers when I can't reach anyone?

they don't always give you an amount or when to expect a check. I have better luck with MARVIN on-line

Not anymore. I have only been told once by MARVIN what my amount is. As long as you have not had to claim any other wages or vacation pay during the weeks you are claiming, you will get the same amount on the paperwork UIA sent you (Monetary Determination).

Go to UIA website to find info on how to change it to direct deposit or look in your info packet

Try going to the Problem resolution offices,
there is one in Livonia, on 8 mile. they are open from 7am till 4pm
If you get there early like 6:50, you will be talking to a person who can adress any issues u have with your claim.
I think they are really nice people and were willing to help me

I was recently laid off, filed for unemployment and received my first payment last week. This week I took a temporary job with fulltime hours. The job will last for 30 days. This job will gross more than unemployment would pay. Do I continue to call Marvin, even though I know I will receive no UI compensation? When Marvin asks if I'm back to work fulltime do I reply yes and enter the dates I started? Or is it better just not to certify that month with Marvin, due to making more than UI would pay. When the 30 days is up and I am let go from this temp position can I just automatically start calling Marvin again?

If one is laid off, begins to collect unemployment, finds another job and gets laid off again from the second job within one's benefit year, does one have to reopen a claim if one has been calling Marvin all along? Or does one just call Marvin and begin claiming 0 earnings after the second layoff? Thanks for any thorough answers.

I recommend you change from debit card to direct deposit. You get charged for the debit card.

I think you just have to file a new claim. I don't know if there is anything on UIA's website about it or not.
