Not just is the state slow on getting things flowing as far as on-line for MARVIN, but they also are slow as far as answering phones. I personally have had problems receiving 2 unemployment checks I am due for from 2008. Everytime I attempt to call the 1-800 number to reach an actual person instead of a recording I receive a recording that states "We are experiencing extremely high call volume please call back later" and then it will disconnect you. I have been having this problem for atleast 4 months and have tried several times a day.

I went to the MARVIN online and registered as a new user. However, I could not use the site to certify for the last two weeks until I receive a password by mail, which may take up to ten days. If you are on a short term layoff, like over the Holidays, you will need to register for a password when you file for unemployment. Don't wait or the password won't be usable until your next layoff.
Actually you can use the site. After you fill out OR confirm your information, the system gives you a temporary password that is good for ten days so you can use the system immediately. It should have been included in the info when it told you about the password being sent in the mail in the next two weeks.

I filed a claim 12-28-08 and I was told my new call time was 1-14-09 thats when I call Marvin back does anyone knowhow to find out if a claim was approved or not? Is that why I call Marvin on the 14th. I was laid off 11-17-08 and I tried to file in nov but when I call and spoke to a rep she said because my former employer denided my claim I would not get paid. What the hell.

apply to jobs!! mcdonalds is hiring. you people complain that the state isn't doing anything but did you realize that you are eligible for 59 weeks of unemployment. that is over a year of FREE money. there is a lot of places hiring you just to make an effort. it may not be a $20 hour but it would be more than you are getting from MARVIN. apply to fast food, gas stations, target is hiring for goodness sake. get off your butt and try!!!!!!!

if your time is between 10 and 11 then call between 10 and 11 if you are so desperate for money you shouldn't wait until exactly 11 you should be waiting for the clock to turn 10 to call. a bit of advice call at least at 10:01 and before 10:59. don't wait to the last moment, if you need your money you should be ready to call at 10:01!!

another great source of information is the booklet they send you in the mail when you file. all you need to do is read it and you will get most of the information you need instead of calling the customer line. that is why there is so many calls because people act helpless and don't read the information given. about MARVIN if you miss a call you don't get it. think of MARVIN as your employer, if you don't show up to work your not going to get paid. so if you don't call MARVIN you are not going to get paid. MARVIN should be a PRIORITY if you are needing money so bad there should be VERY little reason you miss calling him.

your missing the point most of us have been looking for work and cannot get it as well. not even mc'ds has an opening. i for one keep getting the same response. The "were not hiring but were taking applications" only to fill out the app. then it's the wait and beg for a job that pays 2.75 an hour that 500 other people have apllied to. only to loose my home to forclosure. no thanks im moving out of this state. Good luck everyone.

Traditionally that is what family, church, and charity has been for. The breakdown of social institutions is what causes deep dependence on government.

I am actually a "she" thanks and everything I said was true. Pretty sure your local gas stations or McDonalds is hiring so get off your a**es and get a job. I do agree that there is some honest unemployed workers out there but the majority on this blog are not. All you can do is complain and want handouts. Well be happy cause you finally getting them. You just want to wait on the phones and have the workers do everything for you instead of using the resources you are given and find your own answers. Pretty sure most of you could just read the booklet you get and not have to call at least 60% of the time. Try it you maybe surprised!!For the honest ones out there, I wish you the best of luck and I am sorry about the people out there that scam the system and make it hard for you to get thru and get paid.

I went through the online system and filled out all the required information. I was given a confirmation number at the end and an appointment time with marvin. I believe the system said I would be getting something in the mail but have not received it. When I went in today to check the status online my login, password, and email address were not recognized. I did save my confirmation number but see no place to put it in and the phone line seems to always be busy.

My questions are as follows: did I make a mistake or was my information not recognized? Is my appointment with marvin a walk in or phone appointment? What is the exact address of the marvin office?

Thank you for your time.

If you don't want the Debit/ATM card they offer, you can still get a check. Or, you can just have them direct deposit it into your bank account. Just so ya know

Your appointment with marvin is a phone appointment. The Main unemployment office is in Grand Rapids. Not sure if you did anything wrong or not. I did mine online too and got a paper in the mail before Dec. 12. It said that said i got the max for 22.5 weeks. The phone number for the main office is always busy. You have to keep redialing until you get through. I had to keep trying for over a half hour straight to get through.

I have only one week left of the tier 1 euc and was wondering if I should still certify for two weeks? I read that a tier 2 (13 weeks for high unemployment states) will automatically kick in when tier 1 runs out?
